Fed up with conservatives who do not want comprehensive immigration reform and more government expansion, business groups like the Chamber of Commerce will seek to oust conservative lawmakers in Congress.
We are going to get engaged, Scott Reed, a senior political strategist for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, told Bloomberg News. The need is now more than ever to elect people who understand the free market and not silliness.
The chamber reportedly "spent $35.7 million on federal elections in 2012," and they are researching which races they can impact in 2014. Finding candidates who support comprehensive immigration reform seems to be a top priority.
They will meet fierce resistance, though, from conservative groups who are already planning to challenge incumbents like Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Thad Cochran (R-MS), and Lamar Alexander (R-TN).
The Senate Conservatives Fund and the Club for Growth announced that they would support Chris McDaniel, a conservative Republican state senator, in his bid to oust Cochran.
McDaniel announced his candidacy on Thursday, and the Senate Conservatives Fund emphasized that he is "not part of the Washington establishment and he has the courage to stand up to the big spenders in both parties." Both groups have also endorsed Tea Party candidate Matt Bevin, who is challenging McConnell.
In Tennessee, conservatives are mounting a challenge to Alexander, with many supporting Joe Carr.
But those from the business community are not happy with Tea Partiers for mounting challenges to establishment senators like Cochran.
The strategy of primarying people like Thad Cochran is more of the same and it means more Senate minorities in the future, David French, "the top lobbyist in Washington for the National Retail Federation," told Bloomberg News. I question the judgment there.

Just as expected, Karl 'Tokyo' Rover has activated his brigade of corporatist interests and lobbyists. They're worried they won't be able to swamp us with third world immigrants to work in sweatshops. They're also worried all that pork-barrell bill-stuffing will begin to dry up.
"These crony capitalists can't be expected to compete without special favors from Washington! We can't have that! We have to stop these Tea Party hobbits!"
- Likely Karl Rove quote
And the sentence that really exposes these turds for what they are?
The strategy of primarying people like Thad Cochran is more of the same and it means more Senate minorities in the future,
That's right. These people actually want you to believe a Democrat could swoop in and win in Mississippi! This is about as likely as Donald Trump becoming the next president of North Korea. They're defending their cash cow, Thad, because he soaks them with whatever funds they need as long as he gets his back scratched. All that being said, they did spend 35.7 million dollars last time. They're going to be doing everything possible to prevent us from electing principled conservatives like Chris McDaniel. Even if Thad retires, they'll insert a toady into the race. Plenty of those in Mississippi.
They say they want people who "understand the free market" and not "silliness".
Translation?
They want people who understand political favors to lobbyists and screwing America for kickback bounties.
Time to send these crooks running like cockroaches.
I could raise a million dollars for the Tea Party in a month or two really punching the phones, and so could you. It’s not rocket science.
They are every bit as much of an enemy as the Democrats.
The Chamber of Commerce can do anything they want, So far they have POURED tons of Money into the illegal immigration debate and have NOT won, and I mean they have thrown money at it for years and years!!
Back when I was the Director of the Illinois Minutemen, we had very little money, but an active e-mail list, and for some reason, our folks keep active and kept forwarding alerts on how to take action against upcoming Illinois Bills in the Legislature.
It was quoted in the newspaper one time that Drivers Liscenses forillegal aliens was not passing because we were doing our work and calling our Reps. We had little money and they had millions of tax dollars and we won.
The same can happen now! We need to get off our butts and do what we can for candidates, money is great, but if you do not have it TIME and EFFORT on our part can help this folks!
Get up off the coach and do something is what I say!!
Was it Lenin who said that the US would sell them the rope to hang themselves?
Well, we have a new group of leftist dupes, the reall greedy crony capitalists who are putting “business” above country.
Time for some smaller business members of the Chamber to stand up and call out these greedy bastards for what they are, a threat to American jobs.
Karl Rove likes being part of a minority party. So do the RINO’s. You get to make hay about small things, play koombiah with the Democrats, assist them when ever possible, but don’t really have to do anything in regards to governing.
These same RINO’s are OK with Obamacare, Cap and Tax, and other policy decisions of the Democrats. The only thing they want is perhaps some lightening of key regulations.
Remember, for most crony capitalists, more regulation is better. It keeps start ups and mid-level competitors from mounting a serious challenge. Even though the business lose money because of the regulation or tax, the other company does not exist or can’t become a competitive threat because of Govt intervention.
This is news? Why do you think we have so many “moderates” in office now? It’s because the crony-capitalism types have been boosting them for decades now.
calling all small businesses: the us chamber of anti-commerce is not your friend. but then you probably already knew that.
Norquist is a nobody. People know of him, but nobody reall knows him. Ooh, he had an anti-tax pledge! big deal. The man is a liberal looking for favors.
.... In short ..... Look for more corporate entities to begin shedding themselves of larger amounts of full time employees and magically transforming them into part time employees at the stroke of a pen and shucking them off to the system. The Affordable Healthcare Act, once considered as an absolute bane to profit, may now actually be perceived as a blessing in diguise to the business world.
... The Rino's know this and are now courting the corporate entities for the massive corporate bucks to be garnered by that thing which could very well be the terminal cancer that destroys the same freedoms that allowed them to thrive. It is beginning to appear like a perfect storm is on the horizon for that which America has feared since she first took breath.
They don’t like conservatives. They don’t want the republicans to be in the minority. That tells you they know republicans aren’t conservative. They should just go ahead and support the democrats and get it over with.
The COC wants cheap labor. The Tea Party stands in their way.
Exactly. These people want to turn states like Texas into Pakistan and India. Cheap labor mills. They need amnesty to do that.
That unconstitutional maneuver was delayed reaction Kool-Aid for 50+ employee employers while the under 50 employee employers who employ the vast majority nationwide will mostly cut their employee hours back to under 30 hours/week!
The piddly little tax credit for small employers isn't even sweetened Kool-Aid and will be ignored largely!
The Moderates and Pragmatists have only one value! Is it popular and helpful to the bottom line? If not... Fergedaboutit!!! (cowardly and unprincipled indeed)
Is there a good reason why I should be a customer of a company that hates Americans and uses its profit to elect liberals?
Nope.
From the IRS website:
IRC 501(c)(6) provides for exemption of business leagues, chambers of commerce, real estate boards, boards of trade, and professional football leagues (whether or not administering a pension fund for football players),
which are not organized for profit and no part of the net earnings of which inures to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual.
Participating directly or indirectly, or intervening, in political campaigns on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office does not further exempt purposes under Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(6). However, a section 501(c)(6) business league may engage in some political activities, so long as that is not its primary activity. However, any expenditures it makes for political activities may be subject to tax under section 527(f).
Seems to my non;legal mind that this crosses the line into prohibited activity. Comments? Action?
I somehow doubt the IRS will be helping us against these cronies.
It’s probably rotten with CFR globalist types at the top anyway.
