Ben’s plan would in fact be a massive improvement: no government mandates, no 30,000 pages of regulations, no trillion-dollar bureaucracy - just subsidies for people who can’t afford insurance. I would argue that we also need true price competition in insurance, which could be accomplished by allowing interstate purchases of health care plans and caps on medical malpractice awards, among other things.

That's the problem. give an inch and they take a mile. You get more of whatever you subsidize. And so on. government charity corrupts a nation.

Your plan sounds even better. Should be heavy reliance on HSAs which would allow doctors to become more competitive and profitable at the same time.
