Just two comments:

1) An Airsoft AK looks like the real thing.

2) Police took cover behind an open car door. An AK-47 will penetrate a car door—sometimes both doors—and almost every other part of a car body.

As you say, a car door isn’t much in the way of cover, even for pistol rounds, let alone a rifle.

All the way down to the orange tip. What's your point? That cops can shoot because they're too stupid with fear to assess a situation? If they heard some bangs or if the kid (referred to in the story as "Mister") made some threatening moves. This is just part of the trend where we all become family dogs to the "authorities".

No big deal, but I’ve tested that. No full rounds penetrated both doors and no or round fragments penetrated the engine block (obviously) or the tail end of the vehicle.
