Rev. Jesse Jackson says Ronald Reagan wanted to ban blacks from playing football with whites

Deceased Republican President Ronald Reagan sought to to permanently ban African Americans from playing college and professional football in the South with white people, civil rights icon Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. alleged in a speech at Furman University on Wednesday evening.

In the same speech he also alleged that the modern Tea Party was born from efforts to sustain segregation.

“Goldwater and Reagan – had they been successful, it would have been illegal for blacks and whites to play together on a Saturday afternoon,” he said.

-snip-

In the hour long speech, which focused on race but meandered through a number of subjects, Jackson made other incendiary comments, for example suggesting that the Washington Redskins name is a reference to the scalping of American Indians.

“How about pictures we see of Indians stabbing the cowboys,” he asked. "In reality what happened was if If you killed an Indian... [inaudible]…finally you got paid for the scalps of the red skins of the Indians…and that’s how we got the Washington Redskins football league.”

He repeatedly calling the United States south “the land of the free, the home of genocide,” and suggested that the modern day Tea Party was born from efforts to maintain "the walls" of slavery and segregation.

He's like Obama, the truth is whatever he says it is.

Title had to be truncated to fit.

I agree with Jackson.

There is genocide taking place.

The youth gangs are laying waste to vast areas of our major cities, and killing numerous innocent black people. The genocide is being committed against blacks.

Goldwater was a founding member of the Arizona chapter of the NAACP who actively practiced affirmative action without needing a law.

Is he off his meds, or just incoherent?

The Washington Redskins football league?

Is he aware that the Redskins are just 1 team in a league of other teams?

Or is he just incoherent?

What a SHAMELESS liar!

The MSM is too timid to call him on it. So much for "professional journalism."

The truth and Jesse Jackson have NEVER been a comfortable fit.

Perhaps because they have never been properly introduced to each other.

While the truth may recognize Da Revrund, Jesse has been known to be unable to recognize the truth.

The group to which Tom Hayden, Bill Ayers, and Bernardine Dohrn belonged back in the 1960s was ready and willing to murder 25 million Americans when they took over the country.

That’s not BS, like this story.

This sounds Goebbels-like.

Problem is, with the state of education and society today, people hearing a speech like this are unable to know it’s historically nonsense and unable to see the flaws in logic.

Wow! That’s astonishing! Why didn’t he reveal that Reagan wanted to put blacks on a rocket and shoot it toward the sun? If he’s going to spout BS, he may as well go whole hog.

You know what I find funny? Guess who signed the bill to make Martin Luther King, Jr. Day a National Holiday? Yep, the very person JJ calls a racist.

People are so hyperpartisan nowadays, that they don’t even care if what is being spoken is a lie, so long as it makes the other side look bad.

I seem to recall that Reagan played football on an integrated team in the early 30s(?). The team refused business to a hotel that wouldn't accept the black players. Jackson's full of it.

Furthermore, if there was any truth to it the press would have hammered him. They couldn't find real dirt so they just made it up...

he also alleged that the modern Tea Party was born from efforts to sustain segregation

The Libs just pull stuff out of the air, and no one challenges them. So what they pull out of the air becomes presumed as fact.

The Tea Party was born out of economic issues -- bailouts, more specifically. The Tea Party didn't have anything to do with efforts to sustain segregation.

These people play the race card so much that is has worn thin. They try to appy it to every social ill, and it has gotten more use since 2007 than in the previous 20 years.

The race card ------- yawnnnnnnnnnnnnn!

Yawn. Jackson is every bit as much of a lying POS as obama is. Only difference is Jackson has to keep saying outlandish things in a pitiful attempt to stay relevant and stay in the limelight. Ever notice how he just pops up whenever he says something incredibly stupid or when there is a tragedy he can use? Really kind of sad to watch a human being spiral down into insanity in pursuit of transitory fame...

Jesse Jackson is coddled by the media.

So is Al Sharpton.

We are supposed to be mindful of the legacy of slavery and Jim Crow and all that, and cut these guys a break when they spout nonsense.

This nonsense will never see the light of day in the MSM, or among the liberal late night comedians.

I don't know the history of the Washington Redskins' name, but someone recently posted that it came from a tribal event. A certain tribe 'painted' themselves in red paint as a celebration or honor to some tribal historical event. The only connection it has to 'skin color' was it being red paint that was applied to their skin -- thus: Redskins.
