I do believe the election will come down to a Cruz/Christie showdown. If the Christian conservatives and fiscal conservatives can unite around Cruz, he has a chance, unlike the way they split between Santorum and Gingrich. But we need to start working right now on a strategy and public relations effort for Cruz. The problem in 2007 was that primary voters did not get behind a single conservative candidate fast enough. We need to start getting the momentum behind Cruz right now and make sure he enters the primary with guns blazing.

I predict that if Cruz gets the nom, the GOP-e will back a 3rd party moderate RINO against him just to try and make sure the Democrat wins. They cannot have a true conservative dismantling their gold-plated kingdom in D.C. and sending power back to the average citizen.

Already happened in 1980 against Reagan. Anderson was a Republican congressman and Gerald Ford ally who got 6.6% of the vote as an independent for president in 1980.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_B._Anderson

“He won some political support among Republicans, picking up a few important endorsements along the way that helped legitimize him in the race. Most importantly, he began to build support among media elites, who appreciated his articulateness, straightforward manner, moderate positions, and his refusal to walk down the conservative path that all of the other Republicans were traveling.[16]”

“Pollsters were finding that Anderson was much more popular across the country with all voters than he was in the Republican primary states. Without any campaigning, he was running at 22% nationally in a three-way race. With the support of one of the premier media strategists of the day, David Garth, Anderson decided to join the race.[24]”

“Most of Anderson’s original support came from Rockefeller Republicans, who were more liberal than Reagan, but it bled away. Many prominent intellectuals, including the author and activist Gore Vidal, All in the Family creator Norman Lear, and the editors of the liberal magazine The New Republic, also endorsed the Anderson campaign. He also had the support of many independents. Cartoonist Garry Trudeau’s Doonesbury ran several strips sympathetic to the Anderson campaign.[29][dead link]”

I guess I just disagree with what you are saying. Even the least interested amongst us know who he is, regardless if they care or not.

There are far more people on both sides who are more engaged then ever.

Will the GOPe get rid of health insurance coverage for children until they are 26, pre-existing condition requirements for coverage, the Romneycare-Obamacare requirement that individuals buy health insurance????????

ALL OF THE ABOVE ALONG WITH ALL OF OBAMACARE SHOULD GO AWAY COMPLETELY AND NEVER COME BACK IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM...........

Sorry for the yelling, but if you are trying to make the GOPe’s alternatives look good, they aren’t.

All the Republican Establishment has for us are emotional speeches exploiting the anger over Obamacare and Obama.

They have no intention of stopping the fiscal train from going over the cliff, they only intend to increase the national debt at a slower rate of speed by spending a little less than Obama would.

When “leaders” like Paul Ryan envision a balanced budget ten years down the road they are kicking the can down the road and probably know we don’t have ten years before the United States turns into Greece.

Its political posturing to position one’s self for the inevitable “austerity” measures of raising taxes and cutting spending at the same time that are not working in Europe right now.

Yeah they are.

If you lived in a state with crappy public policy, causing outrageous health insurance rates...like New Jersey or Massachusetts, wouldn't you like to be able to buy a policy from Mississippi or North Dakota?

Wouldn't you like to be able to join an association like "The American Association of Home Woodworkers" and get a discounted group rate, just like corporations and unions?

Don't you like the idea of consumer driven healthcare, Health Savings Accounts, and a return to major medical insurance?

It all sounds pretty free market.

I won’t debate your sales pitch about buying the insurance of your choice or having HSA’s, but it’s not the government’s job at any level to tell someone they have to buy insurance. Right?????

You are probably not a conservative for you to sprout liberal talking points and is not base on facts and reality. Palin was bankrupt out of office by both sides of the aisle. The libs were throwing frivolous lawsuits at her tying down her and her Administration and the GOP refused to help her. So get a life jerk

My definition of a powerful woman isn't one that quits their job to appear on reality TV.

I don't know how many times this left-wing meme is going to have be debunked on FR before it finally dies. It keeps rising from the dead like some leftoid zombie.

Palin was being driven into personal bankruptcy by the dozens of frivolous lawsuits that were being filed against her. The laws in Alaska do not allow state monies to be used to defend the Governor from such suits, and there is no limit as to how many of them can be filed.

When concerned Americans reached out to help her with these costs, a judge declared her legal defense fund to be illegal, and it was closed. That left her and her husband with a nearly $500,000 legal bill, which continued to climb.

Not only that, she and her staff were spending the bulk of their working hours working on her defense, and not on governing the state of Alaska.

What would you have her do under such a suppressive circumstance? Destroy the basic financial stability of her family, and go completely broke in the process of defending these never-ending lawsuits?

When would the deep left have given up and let her be? When she was buried up to her neck in lawsuits, and without any means to pay for legal representation, that's when. They meant to destroy her personally, and as Governor of Alaska.

And all of this transpired AFTER she and McCain had lost the election!
