It would be tough not to end up awfully jaded. But it's like cops the world over... You spend your days, endless hours, seeing only the very worst parts of the city you live in. The worst people. The most sickening crimes. You don't respond to happy households full of smiling children. You see the sickest, most foul things. Day after day. I couldn't do it.

You may be right but that sociopath learned his sociopathy from SOMEone at SOME time in his life. It's not the kind of thing a kid makes up. A kid wouldn't even know HOW to do it.
Also, one would THINK that a trained psychologist or two would be able to see through the masquerade. One would think.
As for the "research" done in the prison system, I often wonder about research. I'm not sure if research is always so accurate. MOST researchers start out with a theory and hope to prove that theory. SOMEtimes they EVEN fudge the statistics to fit their theory. Noooooo. It's been done before, you must know.
My red flag standard is "British research has found that..."

There is UNDOUBTEDLY a special place in hell for those pedophiles. They KNOW it's wrong to do it and KNOW it's wrong to lie. So, they might have to expect to go to H - E - double hockey sticks.
I wonder if he suspects that the girl is not, in fact, his daughter, or, perhaps confirmed it. He may have been punishing the mother by doing this to her daughter. My speculation. True or not, its sick.
The girl ought to be permitted to hire someone to give her father the same business.
