President Barack Obama traveled to North Texas Wednesday to thank those working to help Texans sign up for coverage through the nations new healthcare plan and to call on Republican Gov. Rick Perry to do more to help those without insurance.
He brought his defense of the controversial healthcare law to Texas, the largest Republican state where officials oppose the program as well as any expansion of Medicaid.
Theres no state that actually needs this more than Texas, Obama told a crowd of about 150 gathered at Temple Emanu-El, where volunteers work to enroll others in the healthcare program, before heading to two high-dollar fundraisers geared to help Democratic senators seeking re-election.
But he noted that efforts to carry out the healthcare law can be especially challenging here in the Lone Star State, prompting a woman at the event to shout, Were up to the task!
At one point in his remarks, Obama referred to Perrys stance as bullheadedness. ....
Perry maintains that expanding Medicaid isnt the right move and turned the attention back on the president.
President Obama deceived the American people by promising that anyone who liked their healthcare plan could keep it, but millions of Americans are now discovering that simply isnt true, Perry said in a statement. Now, hes coming to Texas in a desperate attempt to salvage his ill-conceived and unpopular program from a Titanic fate by preaching expansion of the same Medicaid system he himself admits is broken.
In Texas, where Medicaid already consumes a quarter of the state budget, we simply need the flexibility to implement fundamental, state-specific reforms to our Medicaid program, instead of a one-size-fits-all Washington mandate, before it bankrupts our state, he said. Mr. President, Texans arent the reason Obamacare is crumbling; Obamacare is the reason Obamacare is crumbling.

Just because Perry didnt drink the Koolaid and take the dangling carrot doesnt mean hes bullheaded. Maybe he sees right through your scheme and knows not to trust your kind.
Is he gone yet? It irritated me all day long that he was here in Texas. And in my county!
He has all the MSM working around the clock to make it look like everyone wants it and trying to make the websites look more use friendly plus he has that faux religious group that’s really a front for Islam helping him line “suckers” up to sign up online. Merriam-Webster is going to have to update several definitions in their dictionary with his photo next to them; terms like deceptive, conniving, pathological liar, narcissist, arrogance, etc...things like that
We do everything bigger in Texas, didn't you know that? See, more Texans stayed away from his stupid appearance than in any other state!
Nice tag line..: )
Thank you. It's been my personal slogan since before I knew about FR.
A lot of conservatives don’t like Perry. Never understood that. In fact, I’m concerned that he is stepping aside.
Is “Good Hair” the smartest governor? No. The most well spoken? Nope. But look at how Texas has thrived under him and how he has been willing to stand up to obastard.
I hope to Heaven that our next governor does nearly as well!
Perry has been one of the biggest promoters of States rights that I have seen.
Was he articulate during the Republican primary?
Not so much, but we all know why.
Was he all things to all people?
No, but no Executive can be.
I *really* wish he would stay on as Governor. To be blunt, he just get the job done. And well.
“A lot of conservatives dont like Perry.Never understood that”
Guardasil!
Illegals!
Trans Texas Corridor!
Blah Blah Blah....
By the way, little can be done to stop the illegals or TTC by Texas.
That crap is all Federal law now, which is why Rick Perry makes such a fuss over States rights.
He has been there a long time.
It takes bullheadedness to face down bullshitedness.
The Boob in the WH has no class at all. He’s acting like a child kicking on the floor.
Right and Obama’s comment is BULL Sperm-iness..
The Muslim’s so desperate to find someone to use as a shill audience that he has to fly to Texas and ask 75 Jews to pose with him. How the mighty have fallen...
My, how the mighty has fallen...
These are supposed to be the "navigators" who don't have to pass a background check in order to handle our most sensitive information!

Unions would get the same subsidies like those in the individual insurance exchange. It is estimated to cost $600 million that the unions will not be charged. Obama/Sillybus slipped in this regulation (just in the last few days) that is so specific that it only pertains to big unions.
I think maybe "group" would be a better description than "crowd".
Did some local high schoolers make that sign? Sheesh.
All hat no cattle.
