Whether you agree or disagree with the war on drugs, this story lacks one element everyone involved with MDMA knows. If someone is given MDMA everyone becomes their friend. She likely had sex with the person she was investigating because of that intoxicating effect. Telling them the others involved is part of the same. It’s a known job hazard, and not much can really be done about it if the undercover person is put in a situation to take whatever drug the dealer is selling.

That’s a very good point, one I had not considered. I can remember when I was given sodium pentethol (sometimes referred to as “truth serum” in bad old novels and movies) when I had my wisdom teeth removed as a teenager. In the brief time before I went unconscious, I remember being pretty much helpless, mentally speaking. I probably would have blabbed almost anything had I been questioned under its influence. (Not that I had anything in particular to share at 17, but you know what I mean).
So, I can definitely see your point about the possibility the officer’s judgment was impaired when both events occurred. I may need to rethink this one a bit.
My thoughts exactly. MDMA lowers your defense mechanisms and makes you very trusting of anyone. The government tested using it as a “truth serum” in the 50s, but abandoned it, because it wasn’t reliable enough, though it certainly could work well at times.
She wasn’t doing X non-stop the whole five months, so I’m extremely skeptical of this excuse.
