Nothing to be alarmed about.. although North did state that if there are officers who know of threats to our Republic they must do whatever it takes to get the word out -- even if it means resigning their commission.
I am no military man or historian. The only general officer I heard of resigning his commission was Army Major General Edwin Walker in a dispute with JFK in 1962. Walker wanted to instruct his 24th Infantry Division (in Germany) about the dangers of communism (after all that was the reason the 24th Infantry Division was in Germany) but JFK ordered him to stop.
Knowing when they reached American shores would help. They did have to take an oath at some point. The only matter would be which form. There were a few changes between 1900 and 1952.
