Christie wouldn't ordinarily have that appeal on his own. But this is the Republican propaganda machine at work. Remember that Romney was anointed the candidate well before the first primary, and that was no accident. It starts with non-stop news stories on every bowel movement the candidate makes, coupled with media talkers relentlessly telling everyone he is the one and only candidate. People see this non-stop propaganda and before long, they believe he actually is the only candidate. Any other candidate has no chance.

If another candidate dares to stick it out, the party machine will do its best to crush him. Remember Herman Cain? The Republican hierarchy couldn't stand having this upstart take votes away from their chosen one, so they, not the Democrats, mounted that smear campaign against him. Notice how all of Cain's accusers suddenly vanished once he gave up.

These days, elections are just theater The ending has already been written.

I agree w/you about the theater/media blather part. I was just wondering (and doubting) how much traction Christy might gain ex-Jersey, and I frankly don’t think it will be much. There’s no way he’ll beat Hillary, no way at all. *IF* things get really, really bad and the people get religion (figure of speech) as to reducing entitlements and actually letting the economy work etc; and want a stern Daddy, then he could potentially beat a really bad Dem candidate. (I don’t think that happens, either) I don’t think he beats even an average Dem candidate; he could beat a stinker. This is the RNC/GOPe clutching the only straw they’ve gotten in a long time and is a nothing.
