280,000 Kentuckians with cancelled insurance plans are getting offers of new coverage, official says

State health cabinet and insurance officials are trying to counter frustration and confusion — and political arguments — in the wake of a rash of insurance policy cancellations as a result of the Affordable Care Act.

Around 280,000 Kentuckians will see their current insurance policies be discontinued in the coming months because of changes brought on by the Affordable Care Act, but that does not mean they are being dropped, according to the Kentucky Department of Insurance.

About 130,000 individuals and 150,000 people who hold small group policies in the state will receive letters stating that their policy is discontinued because the plan does not comply with the Affordable Care Act, according to Kentucky Department of Insurance spokeswoman Ronda Sloan.

In an interview with Pure Politics, Sloan said those Kentuckians aren’t getting booted from being covered. Instead, Sloan said the individuals affected will receive an offer with an alternative plan included in that discontinuation letter. As a result, some might see their insurance costs go up or drop depending on the individual case, Sloan said.

...individuals affected will receive an offer with an alternative plan included in that discontinuation letter. As a result, some might see their insurance costs go up or drop depending on the individual case, Sloan said.

...and if they are willing to take a worse plan (lower coverage levels, higher deductibles and co-pays) for higher costs. You might, might be able to actually reduce costs (though I have heard of exactly no-one being able to do this) if you accept a completely terrible plan with little coverage, huge deductibles, and virtual 100% co-pays.

I would be willing to bet that out of the 280,000 people fewer than 1000 actually see their costs go down. No, make that fewer than 100.

Consider who wrote this Obamacare legislation in it's totality. Insurance companies, drug manufacturers, and their lobbies.......along with the IRS, global progressive groups, euthenasia supporters, etc....

Their goals come first.

Uh...so these KY residents didn’t get to keep their plan. So Obama lied to them.
And the plans they are forced into may not be more affordable than what they had, so how can that help their personal finances, or the economy of Kentucky?

Spin from the Beshear administration who said the criticism of Obamacare was a “web of deception” and telling the critics to “get over it!”, etc. - now scrambling with reality starting to set in.

Oh yeah, we've already seen what those alternative plan offers are...triple premiums and outrageous deductibles.

Only for the local party faithful. A few lucky ones will have Trabants for a while until confiscated. Communal bicycles and poorly made worn out shoes will be the norm.

Wouldn’t it be something if the ACA Obamacare creates a much large pool of uninsured compared to what was before?

Could it be that each of these 280,000 Kentuckians are racists? How dare they complain about DIM/LIB nobamacare.

On an apples-to-apples basis(deductibles, medicine costs, co-pays, specialists, doctor visits, and so on), I would like to see one (1) single case of somebody’s insurance go down. Just one. A single one. More Demo spin/lies.

Hey, take it from me...I heard it straight from the top...dozens of times:

"If you like your plan, you can keep your plan."

Just proceed on in life. You can bank on that promise.

G'day!

Actually, I might be willing to chip in for her birth control.
