As long as they aren’t on “Double Secret Probation.”

Off campus too .... not a campus apartment.

Sounds like the college failed on its inherent promise (as promised by the requirement that residents remain unarmed) to provide security for the residents.

Ever since Bing Crosby left Gonzaga, its gone to hell in a hand basket! Except their basketball team, of course.

Given the way this incident played out, it seems like it would make more sense to put Gonzaga University on probation.

They should not have reported, I guess. That’s just wrong. Two intelligent, well spoken, sincere college students fend off an intruder and some liberal idealogues are going to ruin their college careers (maybe lives) over it. Having an expulsion on their record will make it difficult for them to transfer to another university of any prestige.

I would sue the university for enough money that they don’t need a college education. At a minimum I would sue for the entire value of their education and lost educational opportunity at the university.

Off campus but a campus apartment.

The VA Tech students did it right, at least by liberal standards. 33 students died, but none got placed on probation, because none defended themselves effectively.

Actually, it was a university property. It was off the main campus, but it was owned by Gonzaga. Kind of like how some schools offer university-owned apartments for married students, etc. That’s why the university was able to put these poor kids through all this nonsense. The way their rules are written, it was the same as having a gun in an on campus dorm or classroom.

If I’m the Gonzaga University administration I would be breathing a sigh of relief right now and let this whole matter rest. Don’t know the whole story but imagine if that intruder had a gun and killed both of the students. I look at it this way those students prevented a crime from happening and probably saved a very expensive lawsuit from those students families, if God forbid, they were harmed or killed.

Unbelievable.

So, they are in trouble because they had a gun. The university officials have no feelings about the fact that someone was breaking into their apartment. They are strictly bureaucratic about the fact that their anti-gun rule was violated.

I can only imagine the relief their mothers must have felt.

I have a 20-year old in college right now and if that were him, I would feel oceans of gratitude that my son access to that gun and had it handy. Maybe it’s time to send one of the handguns off to college with DS??

Instead of suspending those kids, the IDIOT administrators should be honoring them, especially on this day, Veterans Day. They did that college, city, state and their country proud.

Our Founding Fathers would be proud too.

As a mother and American citizen I know I am.

The six time felon was likely an employee of the university-probably a professor.

They did the right thing by reporting, to not report could have led to a problem from some other unsuspecting student. Liberals create gun-free danger zones and when their “security” fails to “secure” and a citizen does the citizen must be punished in some way. The university created the problem they need to fix it.

Probably the students’ best bet would be to appeal to the bishop of Spokane to mediate this situation from a point of view of reasonableness.

The logic is obvious. The anti-gun policy was ill advised, because students need the ability to defend themselves, and the school obviously cannot provide enough security to protect them.

Thus, if the policy was to avoid harm to students, it fails, and just the opposite policy should be instituted, that they be permitted to have weapons for self defense.

It's unbelievable. Part of being in campus housing is that the school takes some responsibility for safety and security. They didn't live up to their end, and thankfully the students were able to protect themselves. You'd think it would be the students who had a complaint.

Didn't anyone in university administration think this through?
