Reid calls special ObamaCare meeting
The Hill ^ | November 13, 2013 | Alexander Bolton

Posted on 11/13/2013 1:12:32 PM PST by jazusamo

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Thursday will convene a special meeting of the Senate Democratic caucus and senior White Officials to discuss the troubled rollout of ObamaCare.

Reid on Wednesday told reporters he would not answer questions about the hundreds of thousands of insurance policy cancellations or other issues until he has further discussions with the White House.

The Senate leader said President Obama called him Tuesday evening to discuss healthcare and other issues.

Several Democrats have signed onto a proposal sponsored by Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) that would force insurance companies to let people keep their health plans if they like them.

Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) said he would have a better idea of what proposals Democrats will push to improve the new law after the Thursday meeting.

Republicans could scarcely contain their glee over the growing Democratic anxiety.

"Obviously panic has set in on the other side," Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said.

Mcconell owes Cruz and Lee an apology.

Now they ought to be working daily to defund Obamacare. No fixes just defund legislation daily.

“The RATS are scared and that is when they are the most dangerous.”

You’re spot on, Zathras, but you’re misreading the signals. The elitists aren’t dangerous. They’re scared sh*tless of getting hanged from lampposts.

Cheers, buddy

So the Rats plan on forcing the insurance companies to violate the law?

I got everything you said the first time, no need to repeat it. My opinion is the incentive is only there to do it for the lower-income employees, just like companies are not worried about cutting part-timers to under 30 hours. Because those employees don’t have many other options as to where else to go and they are not difficult to replace if they do leave. I believe middle-to-higher income level employees are not as easy to replace and will be incentivized to move to another company who is still offering group health care if their health care is cut off. Because since they make too much money to get subsidized health care, cutting their health care benefits would be a pay cut to them. Cutting pay is not something a company who doesn’t want to lose good employees will do.

Excellent advice...The implosion of the Rats is just beginning, it’ll be fun watching them finish the suicide.

Careful there. A wounded animal is a dangerous animal. They will take everybody down with them out of spite. It's all the libs know.

How do you “un-cancel” cancelled health insurance? I mean don’t these things need to be negotiated and approved?

Exactly. The changes in the law have already been enacted. They cannot take them back at this point.

Insurance companies will rue the day they agreed to this disaster. All of those new premiums from young healthy people are not going to materialize. But all those new claims coming from high risk people will be coming in early in 2014. Meanwhile, the government continues to print new money to cover their losses, while the insurers have to live with theirs. And in 2015, those still struggling to pay for their insurance will see their rates double to cover the 2014 disaster.

The bills are more mandates on top of the mandates that got us in this mess. Total nonsense.

It makes me nervous an old bull like Upton is leading the charge. It seems conservatives have been sidelined from the kenyancare debate for the moment by leadership.

‘McCain attends the meeting’

That would make it, ‘bi-partisan’.

First thing I saw on that graphic was the postponing of the House meetings regarding the self driving car.

This is the point where Republicans should be going for the kill. They should be emphasizing that Ted Cruz was right all along, that Democrats cannot be trusted, and that they will settle for nothing short of full repeal of the entire law in all its glory. And any time any Democrat has the chutzpah to suggest a delay in the individual mandate, point out how that very same Democrat had voted against any such delay only a month ago.

DO NOT LET THEM OFF THE HOOK FOR THIS. Drive it home again and again and again how the Democrats have been dead wrong about this for 3½ years now. We were able to fight WWII in less time than it has taken the Democrats to implement this. Except that WWII was actually a success.

1. Exactly. It was a calculated lie.
2. They do not want Obamacare to succeed. They want single payer.
