It was a failure of leadership not to be involved. It was a failure of leadership ... not to know these things ... and so, I think it is good that you're accepting responsibility for this because no one else is ... there is a certain amount of culpability to the worst tragedy since 9/11. And I'm glad you're accepting this.

In the American military it is constantly repeated that we leave no one behind. There are innumerable examples of American fighting men facing steep odds and battling their way into fire into an attempt to rescue fallen comrades. Officers were trained to bring everyone home. Yet, at Benghazi someone failed to order a rescue team. Neither POTUS or SOS have accounted for their actions during the attacks which took place over 7 hours. At that time there were assets available with which to mount a rescue. While there would have been no guaranty such a mission would have succeeded the fact that no attempt was ordered is reprehensible.
