In for the mayhem!
A big story in the news is the court settlement to be paid by JP Morgan, but the unsaid part is the story Mike has brought up in the past about Herb and Marion Sandler of Golden West Financial, that were the “little fish” that actually packaged up the bad paper and sold it to the larger players for billions and not disclosing its toxic nature. Herb is dead now, but they got away with murder. It was the first domino of the financial collapse of 09, that the naive blame on Bush.
The Doc is in the house. Topic out of the gate include comfort food, a new radio intro...

Personally I don’t like it. Sounds weird.

except the first guy who wanted him to stick to politics :)
and do we really want to hear his poems set to jazz music?
“hear his poems set to jazz music?”
Sometimes his freestyling is pretty good.
50 minutes til Savage here.
This sounds interesting. I always felt that financial institutions played a big part in the 2008 crisis, but practically everybody(except Clark Howard ) on talk radio gives them a pass. It makes me sick. These banks were some of the best examples of crony capitalists that there are. But nothing was their fault, because the poor, victimized darlings were forced to make the loans don’t you know. Bundling other loans isn’t quite the same thing, I realize. But there was plenty of blame to go around. The government, Fanny and Freddy, politicians, and last but not least, consumers themselves. An adult should know enough not to get into more house than they can afford. And I see signs that we haven’t learned a dang thing. Lets face it, house-ownership isn’t for everybody. There’s no shame in being a renter, and many responsible, respectable people are. This mortgage meltdown was complicated, a perfect storm. Why can’t people admit that. I guess that Everett was hit hard, not as bad as places like Stockton CA but bad enough. Now we have all these vacant houses sitting around, magnets for problems. I have no sympathy for the people that caused this.
Incidentally, to me the best type of house buying arrangements are owner-financed, if you can get it. People have more of a sense of responsibility dealing with each other as individuals. If something goes wrong and your payment is going to be late, you can go to the seller and they’ll usually work with you.
you are right I liked the jazz poetry pieces
sifting the crumbs on an oil cloth tablecloth is a memory of mine
