Actually I think both strategies were correct. The Ted Cruz speech which launched the defund/delay Obamacare strategy and gave Obama an opportunity to shut down the government was the right thing to do.

Reason 1: It was morally correct.
Reason 2: It established in the minds of the American public that the GOP is firmly on the side of Obamacare Repeal.
Reason 3: The damage to the GOP brand was minimal despite the rantings of the MSM and the Dems.

And the current strategy of letting it roll is also correct.

Reason 1: The GOP is actually helpless to make any real changes in the law.
Reason 2: The Obvious - Why stop a Dem Train Wreck.

” It established in the minds of the American public that the GOP is firmly on the side of Obamacare Repeal.”

Are you kidding?!?!

No less than the 2008 Presidential Candidate has excoriated Cruz - have you forgotten he called Cruz a “whacko bird”??

One after another chicken-shite GOP partisan lined up to apply similar descriptions to the defund-repeal effort, and the media was more than happy to deliver that message (”GOP in disarray...” to the masses.

No, it’s not the GOP that will be remembered as firmly on the side of Obamacare repeal...it’s Ted Cruz and the Conservative minority. The ones who had the guts to stand up and say it before it was fashionable to do so.
