The British populace and the major newspapers, the BBC, Labor, Liberals and Conservatives, all were supportive of Chamberlain. Fearing an economic upheaval if it came to war and its financial cost, they chose to believe. Not until France fell did they raise a voice when it was that there were no other allies left in Europe.
