No kidding. If you’re lucky to find anything (non-food items) after spending all day and a tank of gas, the markup is usually outrageous.

It's rather odd that you would address your comment to someone in favor of marking-up American goods.

What if China didn’t read the script?

baraq has shown the world he won’t defend Americans or our interests. He left an Ambassador to die in Lybia.

yes. Flight of the Old Dog great book. The one that is very relevant to this current event is “Fatal Terrain”. It focuses on Taiwan but the scenario could easily play out the same.

In 1981, I was young Airman charged with loading “ALCM missiles” on B-52’s in upstate NY.

When you attempt to traverse the aircraft from the cockpit to its tail, there was hardly the ability to stand up.

The entire interior fuselage was packed with so much equipment that making the journey could take 30 minutes of crawling on your knees.

That was in 1981. I suspect that most of that interior space has been freed up for other purposes since then.

Personally, I was a fan of the F-15. When it was introduced, it was the only aircraft that could accelerate while going vertical.

And the SR-71 is an insane feet of engineering.

Can you imagine the conservation between the Generals and the Lockheed team when the SR-71 was first introduced ?

Generals;

“What is leaking from the plane?”

Lockheed;

“That’s fuel, sir”

General;

“I hope that is something you can correct”

Lockheed;

“No Sir, that is by design”

Kinda like motor oil in a Harley, the leak is a good sign. So long as it's leaking you know there still some in there.

The Chinese can't back down here.

They will cancel the Biden trip.

Count on it.

You need to get Dale to sign in on FR. Harold Coyle is on here of “Team Yankee” fame as a lurker. His wife and son are Freepers here.

Sort of like the old joke...

Why don't the Brits make televisions?

Because they couldn't figure out how to make them leak oil.

:)

Why send two of our slowest moving least stealthy aircraft? An invitation to shot at them? I know they are armed to the teeth with weapons and electronics but they are still slooow. Why not a fighter patrol?

The point is to be seen, so no stealth required.

Because there's no mistaking the radar cross section of a B-52. As gestures go, sending up a couple of B-52's is a big one, since they are used mostly for dropping hundreds of bombs on enemy targets.

Thanks.

Regardless of BO's motives, it was a good move.

Agreed. I’m surprised too frankly, because this WH does things in the national security interest of this country so seldom.

Maybe they figured they couldn’t have the Chinese and the Iranians eating Barry’s lunch in the same week.
