When I saw the story the other day about the lesbian waitress who was stiffed for a tip by a couple of customers who disapproved of her homosexuality, I thought it was awful, but I held off on commenting because something didnt seem quite right about it. Good thing that I did, because it was almost certainly a despicable hoax: [see link]

for this one I think it was a couple thousand, I heard the n-word hoaxer got tons more.
tips are not mandatory
yes, this one was a copycat
Tips are not mandatory. If they just do their job, that is not extraordinary at all.
BS. It's good thing it was a hoax. Stealing from someone is not "standing up against perversion". It's just theft.
Are you justified in not paying the mechanic that fixes your car because he's gay?
Your statement seriously pushes my button, so I'm going to shut up now.
Scripture tells us not to judge those outside the body, but fellow believers.
no, not mandatory, but certainly customary.
Technically though, just like being an inappropriate and counter productive ass, they are voluntary. I get the feeling a lot of Freepers are piss poor tippers and really really good at the latter ..
I think people should pay what they owe and no more. I ain’t a charity. If they aren’t paid enough they need to seek a new employment situation.
In retrospect, there was never a more deserving waitress to be stiffed. After all, she was a liar and a defamer, implicating her customers as bigots. But, of course they would not have known that at the point of tipping.
But it turns out that she would have deserved it.
And, I am happy to cast the first stone. Seems like a direct hit.
Several years ago, I used to think that libs were just crying wolf with their screeches of “homophobic” and so on .thinking no one’s homophobic, but we conservatives do believe it’s a poor choice, a sin, and we certainly don’t want the lifestyle rammed down our throats thru government fiat.
Now I see some on FR and I’m thinking ya know .there may be something to that claim afterall. I fully understand that there are relatively many in the food and beverage profession, among others, who choose the alternative lifestyle. This does not threaten me. I don’t feel the need to insult and condemn every time I use one of those services ..
Now WHOA nice try, but you won’t get away with it.
You are conflating the two very different issues here. No one has defended the “hoax” part of this. No one. Period. No one. We all agree with that.
You were, however, arguing on the merits of just being an ass to any waitress based on their sexuality. Yes, you were. Go re read. And it’s on that we called you out.
The hoax issue is something altogether different.
this will not go away unless this woman is sued by the couple and they get all her money..
It was an easy call to make.
In fact, as it turns out, in “retrospect” as you say, YOUR actions actually VALIDATE the hoaxers. They would no doubt defend their hoax by saying that “this stuff happens all the time” and therefore it is okay to fake one to make a point.
Now that’s BS of course, but look at what your attitude does: it gives them credibility by condoning the kind of action in reality that they faked. YOU credit the hoax, and pull the rug out from those of us who call it out at a hoax.
YOU are part of the problem here ..
Yes, it was indeed I was just sort of making a FTR point ..
The world is full of homosexuals. And liars. And adulterers. And slanderers. As were we before Jesus pulled us out of the muck and mire.
There was another incident like this recently - proven to be a hoax. Then, this comes up - also, apparently, a hoax ...
I don’t know what it is about these people - do they think they are making a point, advancing their agenda?
All they are doing is casting suspicion and doubt on themselves and their whole community - so that when [or if] it ever REALLY happens, the victim will not be believed ...
So reasoned and so wrong. Only if the waitress did not appear as a lesbian does your argument hold. She was obviously a lesbian, so you comment condones homosexuality. Is this what you intended?
