Come HOME to thread musicman!
“Smart Growth” advocates sound pretty stupid.
There is really nothing like a Professional Planner.... Punish those unthinking, dimwitted residents.... make them pay for not performing according to THE PLAN.....
Your intellectual superiors, controlling your behavior in really stupid ways.
Remember folks, lib-ruls is so dang smarter than us!
People will walk a maximum of 15 minutes to get to a station. They will wait a maximum of 15 minutes for a bus to take them there.
Yes, the tolerance will be a little longer in remote rural areas which do not have much in the way of bus lines or rail service, but they will often drive or be driven to the bus terminal or rail station.
The money would be better spent just keeping the equipment they already have in good repair. How about just fixing the escalators so they all work? Or how about replacing rail cars so things don’t fall off of them once a month, and so that it doesn’t look like a third world commuter system? Its the capital of the country, it is embarrassing.
smart growth advocates = Communists
Social engineering.
Rather than create a system would want to use, they create a system to make us conform to their ideal world view.
To the left automobiles are evil so let us do everything to make owning an automobile inconvenient.
For all of the credential waving and chest thumping by our NOVA residents, you would think we could do a better job of planning...
And tolls. It costs $1 to get on the toll road, go 10 miles or less, pay another $1.75 to go a couple more miles. Instead people clog up 66 making my commute even more miserable.
By definition, half the population is of below average intelligence .. inclusion in same being an apparent prerequisite for many .gov positions.
Years ago, when I ran for State Rep. in Connecticut, I was asked how I would approach improvements to Route 10 in Cheshire. They were at first dumb-founded when I stated that I didn’t want to “improve” route 10, as that would just encourage a lot of people to go from Hamden to Waterbury, that “If you build it they will come”. It never occurred to the reporter panel that NOT building is an option, too.
If Tyson’s Corner doesn’t want more traffic, maybe it shouldn’t have a Metro stop.
Light rail: taking you from where you can’t get to to where you don’t want to go!
What is ironic is that you will never (never, not ever) find the “Smart Growth Gurus” using these facilities....finding one using the planned facilities is about as probable as finding Gore driving a Prius and riding coach on an airline.
No, by definition, half are below the median.
If Bill Gates walks into a room the average net worth goes up greatly.
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. If they want to reduce the traffic on the roads to DC, they should make it EASIER for folks to take public transportation, not HARDER!
Why not just build a parking garage OVER the train station, and charge for parking? Folks taking the Commuter rail, or park at any T station in the Metro Boston area pay $4 a day, for open parking.
