Shouting match here too. My aunts are leftists. They are both on Medicare, and have been oblivious to what has been happening to us active middle classers. Like talking to the wall. They want single payer because it will be Medicare for everyone. I tried telling them Medicare is paying an unsustainable 12 cents per billed dollar, but the point died in the noise of the fight. It will only be worse once everyone is “all in,” as they put it. Their reference point is their own situation, plus magical thinking about what’s happening to others. The good news is they are not the dominant view in my extended family. The others are coming around, albeit temporarily shielded by their employer based packages.

Unintended consequences due to Obamacare — Poor retail sales and big ticket items this Christmas as people are unsure about what they’ll be paying.
Shades of the previous war between the states...People don’t realize how close things are again to a devastating civil war.
Next they will be suggesting “obamacare sign up” parties. “Invite your friends and family for pizza. Have plenty of cell phones with internet access and “get covered”.
