He wants to pump Jew up! A cop-turned-rabbi is on a quest to toughen up city Jews being targeted by knockout thugs.
If Jewish kids started fighting back, they wouldnt get picked on so much, said Gary Moskowitz, a seventh-degree karate black belt. Im just trying to encourage the Jewish community to do that.
In the past two months, at least eight Jews, all in Brooklyn, have allegedly been attacked by punks playing the knockout game, in which bystanders are sucker-punched.
As one of the few Jewish kids living in the Soundview section of The Bronx in the 1960s, Moskowitz, 56, took a lot of beatings.
I wore a yarmulke, and I was a target, he said. I was once dragged up six stories to a rooftop by a gang . . . They held me over the ledge.
But at 14, he went to a Jewish Defense League-sponsored summer camp and was taught karate....

Trying to become the next Ranger Coredel Walker???
I can teach a newbi something useful, to the point of proficiency, in a couple of weeks . Like most efforts the learning curve us steep at the beginning and then levels off to the fine points. A fighting attitude will go along way to assist technique.
But yeah, it takes awhile. Ten years to get my third degree.
Our son, small for his age, blond, musician, was picked on in 7th grade by a big black kid who followed him around all day kicking his feet and trash talking him. Finally our son hauled off and decked him. One blow. I guess it was a knockout. Our son was a blue belt in Tau Kwon Do. This was before the “no tolerance” rule and the vice principal thought he did the right thing. The big guy was a known bully.
Latke Chopky
Or you can take a hand full of New Jersey Matzah Balls and pelt them to death.
The Matza Balls on the west coast are light and fluffy, not rock hard salt licks like you find in the Mid-Atlantic states.
You learn useful things almost right away. How to avoid a blow, how to react when attacked, how to take a fall, how to punch properly, etc. You’re just not Bruce Lee right away. I’ve taken years of Tae-Kwondo and a little Karate this past year, and it is useful no matter how much time you put into it. Though, the more time, the better.
And he might use this song, which is a conservative variation of Adam Sandler’s Hanukkah Song, for which the fighting Maccabees could relate.

How long before NY pols start to require fists be registered of anyone taking karate?
Sadly, that is NOT sarcasm.
Teach the children well....
Yes it does. But I can train someone to be proficient with a handgun in a few hours. But NYC doesn’t allow law abiding citizens to own handguns. So I guess the need to spend years mastering karate.
Why karate? Krav Maga.
Yeah and if they fight back just using karate Tyrone will shoot him. Screw that, allow them to practice their 2nd amendment constitutional right. Someone attempting to knock you out is attempted murder and you have every right to use lethal force in defending your life. The problem though is New York city is a anti-constitutional fascist state so they will incarcerate you as a political prisoner.
Yep. You can well off the sport part of Tae Kwon Do and deliver some useful hurt that anyone can learn.
Hardest part of fighting is understanding “There are no rules”.
Whatever it takes to stop the aggression must be done.
I like short action deep inside. Head butts, elbows, hitting ribs and arm pits, arm locks and throws.
Nothing ends a fight like breaking something though.
ot anymore! LOL!!!
Nothing ends bullying like a quick attitude adjustment.
Or Cherokee Nation....wait...they lost...forget it...
Wise speak you well...
I wonder if Cohen and Morris Dees at the SPLC will target the rabbi as they target anyone else who tries to defend themselves. Somehow I think this will be OK. But good for the rabbi.
He had better pay attention to the rules....they call for one victim while the aggressor is backed up by three or four buddies. I’m all in favor of fighting back....but it’s a good idea to be ready to run as well.
More wholesome goodness from black culture.
