The I-Word

“The ultimate check on presidential lawlessness is elections...”

True, provided that 1) the voting public makes the effort to educate themselves and not just listen to the talking heads, and 2) the elections are done honestly. So far, things ain’t lookin’ too promising.

A two thirds majority vote in the Senate is required to remove an impeached president from office. We are so screwed.

Harry Reid needs to go out for a smoke and never be seen again. Isn’t that how his friends usually handle things?

Just hearing it be discussed is encouraging. It would also probably keep bam bam occupied and limit the damage he can do.

If Barack Hussein Obama is not what the founders envisioned when they established the provision for impeachment, then I don’t know what would be. Separation of power. Support for the constitution. Execution of duly enacted laws. This is not about Barack Obama, this is about the very foundation of the human experiment called the American republic. Congress has a DUTY to impeach.

Yup, and it is mathematically impossible for the GOP to pick up a two-thirds majority in the 2014 elections. The GOP currently holds 45 Senate seats, and there are 21 Dem-held seats up for election - even if the GOP wins every one of those, that's still one short of a 2/3 majority.

Just one more reason to get as many CONSERVATIVES elected in 2014.

How many of the existing 45 GOP Senators do you believe would vet to remove Obama? 5? 10?

My mind always reels about stuff like this. Our problem is that we tend to make our presidents rock stars. I have respect for the office of the president as much as the next guy, but I wonder if it wouldn’t be better if we impeached presidents on a regular basis. Maybe one in three. Flesh and blood. Their crap stinks just like yours and mine. No better, no worse. Throw them on the scrap heap if they get too big for their britches.

The founders were nothing if not men of vision. Having lived under a tyrant with King George, they knew we could never let our guard down or liberty would gone in a heartbeat. They foresaw this day. The question is, will we live up to their expectations or will we let them down?

We shall see.

An execution for treason would do the nation a world of good.

Slick Willy should have met that fate for China Gate.

A handful, no more. I was only saying that, even in the best-case scenario, we just don’t have the votes. (I suppose I didn’t consider the best-best-case scenario of all of the GOP senators voting to remove, and a couple of Dem votes joining them, but.....not gonna happen).

A lot of congressional babies would be pooping their diapers that day.
