To: LonelyCon; a fool in paradise

Conservatives have been so intimidated by the Leftist mainstream that they can no longer stay silent when they should, or of course speak the truth. “shades of grey”, “mixed feelings”, we read on this forum regarding Mandela, “Revolutionary who turned into Vaclav Havel of Africa” says today’s WSJ. Pardon? Vaclav Havel was never an admirer of Stalin. “apartheid was evil”, again on this forum, as an excuse, I suppose, for the greater evil of today’s South Africa and Zimbabwe. Was it more evil than today’s rules in Saudi Arabia, Singapore or a dozen of other countries about which we never read, because there is no Soviet Union today to fund the worldwide campaign against them as it did against South Africa and Rhodesia back then?

If apartheid had been as evil as Senor Mandela’s own political party, he would have been executed on the spot the first time his butt was arrested.

Orange may be the new black, folks, while Third World savagery is the new normal.

/end rant/

The Left took on the fight against Apartheid as their counter to Reagan/Thatcher’s fight against Soviet expansionism.

glad many are not putting him on a pedistal. I have no admiration for him or his murderous wife that necklaced people. Thought I was the only one that said, Oh well, we all die sometime no big deal.

Stephen Biko was. I'm not defending Mandela and the ANC, but by that same token the actions and abuses of the NP during apartheid should not be lightly dismissed either.
