More than 20 members of the U.S. House, mostly Democrats, and Republican Sen. Ted Cruz will travel to South Africa to honor and commemorate former South African president and anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela.

House Speaker John Boehner tapped Rep. Aaron Schock, R-Illinois, to lead the official delegation of House members to South Africa for Tuesday's service. Members of the Congressional Black Caucus, including Chairwoman Marcia Fudge, will join the official congressional delegation.

The group of 24 members of the House of Representatives and Senate will leave early Monday morning for the service Tuesday in Johannesburg at FNB Stadium.

Here's a list, which is subject to change, of the other U.S. lawmakers who will join the delegation, according to a senior Democratic aide:

Rep. John Conyers, D-Michigan; Rep. Charles Rangel, D-New York; Rep. John Lewis, D-Georgia; Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Washington; Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton, Democratic delegate from D.C.; Rep. Maxine Waters, D-California; Rep. Bobby Scott, D-Virginia; Rep. Melvin Watt, D-North Carolina; Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas; Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Maryland; Rep. Donna Christensen, Democratic delegate from the Virgin Islands; Rep. Gregory Meeks, D-New York; Rep. Barbara Lee, D-California; Rep. G.K. Butterfield, D-North Carolina; Rep. Al Green, D-Texas; Rep. Gwen Moore, D-Wisconsin; Rep. Yvette Clarke, D-New York; Rep. Karen Bass, D-California; Rep. Terri Sewell D-Alabama; Rep. Joyce Beatty, D-Ohio; Rep. Frederica Wilson, D-Florida.

Where were all of these politicians when George Wallace died.

All of them going down to see the black David Duke buried.

Even Ted Cruz. Well that does it for me. FU TED.

...I wonder if they’ll all be presented with token ‘necklaces’ as party favors...

Let's not forget, Mandela was an America-hating Communist.

Is he trying to appeal to the “Minority” here? What a goofy move. He apparently didn’t read the history books before they were rewritten to fit the communist agenda.

Hmmm.....You know I can’t recall Lady Margaret Thatcher getting this kind of arse kissing when she died. Oh that’s right, she was against communism. You know, communism which is responsible for 100 million deaths in the past 80 odd years, over 4 times the amount of people the Nazis killed. So naturally anyone who is a communist must be hailed as a hero and those who were against it must be ignored.

Good for Ted. It shows that he is running for president in 2016. If he had denounced Mandela, he would have had no chance of winning. He would have been labeled an extreme racist who is for apartheid. The press would be all over and have him figuratively dressed in sheet with a burning cross. Ted not only has the right stuff, he is making the right moves.

I’m voting Cruz in 2016!

I guess it escaped Mandelas mind that nobody can leave Cuba and if they try and are caught, they are usually murdered. So much for “freedom”.

I’m guessing there will be other republicans going but they only want to mention Ted Cruz so the rabid idiots can scream about his “treason”

Useful idiots all around.

Agreed, this article drew exactly the reaction from the simpletons that was expected.

Screw em, Ted Cruz is still top notch in my book.

Obama is not getting to go to South Africa as the Emperor of the United States with just an all-black adoring entourage. That's a good thing. Heck, since Obama offered, he even gets to share the plane ride with GWB and Laura.

Ted Cruz going? If that's the case, it sends a powerful message to the world about Cruz's place in the future.

Exactly right, he is playing the game. The constitutional republican is gone, what we live under now is a soft tyranny with a communist propaganda machine posing as our impartial media. The only real way to change that is to use guile and tact until you reach a position where you can start taking action to tear down all that crap the liberals and RINOs wrought these past 24 years since Reagan left office and it’s going to take time.

If so, the whites will have to sit in the back.

Cruz a pander-bear?

Who knew?
\
The appropriate funeral ceremony would be for Mendela to be stuffed into a large tire and be “necklaced”.

Even better, bring back “suttee” and toss Winnie Mandela into the flames, Indian style.

After all, those who rose by the “necklace” should perish by the “necklace.”
