I don't know if there are statistically more of these needless abuses of police power than there were 25 or 50 years ago. But there are certainly more reports of them - seemingly at least one a day.

We have the technology to equip every single law officer with a personal blackbox hooked up to a video camera capable of storing the last 30 minutes of that officer's field of view, requiring that all officers consider themselves off-duty the second either the camera or the blackbox stop working. We should start looking into making this a reality, both for the protection of the officers and for the protection of the citizens those officers are sworn to serve.

Law enforcement and it's supporters keep telling the rest of us that we shouldn't mind out-of-control snooping of our communications and activities because if we're innocent, we have nothing to worry about. So let law enforcement live by it.

Cops should be monitored because they are govt representatives.

Monitoring of private people requires a warrant, well ok it should require a warrant.

If the murdered student had been black, and the police white, we would have riots in San Antonio and around United States with Sharpton and Jesse Jackson at the front of the mobs, and Obama will adopt the dead student as his own son.

Where is the picture of the murderer cop? I BET HE IS BLACK!

Yeah, I find it rather telling that they want to surveille the public at all times in all places, but if you get pulled over with a scanner or radar dectector in the car they get quite aggressive about it.
