By DAN ELLIOTT and P. SOLOMON BANDA Associated Press CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) - A teenager who wounded a fellow student before killing himself at a suburban Denver high school entered the building with a shotgun, a machete, three Molotov cocktails and ammunition strapped to his body, likely intending to track down a librarian who had disciplined him, authorities said Saturday.
After firing a round down a hallway, Karl Pierson, 18, shot a fellow student who just happened to be sitting nearby with a friend as he headed toward the library. Claire Davis, 17, was shot in the head at point-blank range and remained hospitalized Saturday in critical condition.
Pierson set off one of the devices, but killed himself just one minute and 20 seconds after entering the building because he knew a sheriff's deputy assigned to the school was closing in, Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson said at a news conference.

Any idea how much Dad was involved in his sons life, encouraging, leading, and yes, putting a boot in his seat when required?
*************************
From earlier articles, I seem to recall that the parents finalized the divorce in the Summer of 2012. No idea what kind of discipline either parent used in earlier years.
Seems the guy was booted off of the debate team, maybe in Sept., by the teacher he was looking to shoot.
‘.....If it was a point-blank hit from a shotgun, her head would be gone......”
That depends on a number of things - three most important are the type of shot, angle and point of aim.
Center mass, close range & 00 Buck - Yes.
Close range, near edge, bird shot and angled skull - No.
The student was very lucky.
The incident lasted a minute and 17 seconds.
This started and was over before security got anywhere near him.
Do your math, genius.
The sheriff also said that the shooter was “down” inside the school within 14 minutes of the initial call, which came in at 12:33 p.m.

As soon as he heard the first of five gunshots, that officer and the two school administrators he was talking to raced toward the commotion shouting their presence and ordering students and staff to follow the schools lock-down protocol.
As a result, Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson said at a briefing Saturday afternoon, the heavily-armed shooter realized he was about to be confronted by an armed officer, and he took his own life.

The search for a “hero” in this episode continues.
Within 20 minutes of the first report of a gunman, officers found Pierson’s body inside the school, Robinson said.

He’s gotten it down now from 20 minutes to 14 minutes and I’m sure with a little massaging he can get it down even further.
I read he shooter was a Socialist who supported gun rights. I doubt either of those things or his parents lead to the shooting. It happened because a person let a resentment build up in his sick mind until he believed he would be right to kill another person.
The shooter should have been kicked out of school after the threat and banned from campus. He was an adult let him finish High School through a G.E.D. or other program. At least then security protocols in place for banned persons would have been initiated perhaps preventing this.

So then the sheriff was lying when he made these statements to the public:
“Within 20 minutes of the first report of a gunman, officers found Piersons body inside the school, Robinson said.”

SO WHICH IS IT —
Did they find him in 20 minutes or in 14 minutes or in 80 seconds??? or are we just making this all up???
If that's the case then why did it take the sheriff so long to find this out, and why did it take them 14-20 minutes to find his body, and why were they shaking down students 3 hours later if the shooter was already dead and they knew he was dead???
