Mall at Short Hills victim defending wife from carjackers when shot: source

The victim, Dustin Friedland, 30, wasn't protecting his luxury SUV, says a source close to the investigation — but his beloved wife Jamie, already in the car. One thug had come close to her and ordered her out, but 'she got a look at him,' says the source.

The lawyer killed by carjackers at an upscale New Jersey mall gave up his life to protect his wife.

Dustin Friedland had just let his beloved spouse Jamie into their luxury SUV, packed with holiday gifts. He was walking around to the driver’s side when two crooks ambushed him and demanded his keys, a source close to the investigation told the Daily News.

So right. Tragedies are what happen when people are killed and injured by things like real accidents, tornadoes, hurricanes, and volcanic eruptions. Atrocities are the result of deliberate, evil, human action. Calling them “tragedies” diminishes the evil and accountability of the perpetrators.

This is just a guess but PC probably killed him.

Indeed. I agree that being 'colorblind' only makes one blind not altruistic.

All of NJ is a gun free zone except your household and even then I believe the laws require them locked up. If your home is broken into the law requires you to feel that your life is in mortal danger before putting lead into the scum! I’m sure that you will spend a fortune defending yourself if it happened!

“African American.” How do they know the “American” part? Wouldn’t a more accurate description be “black”?

See in this article from yesterday.

It appears that only ABC local is reporting the race of the killers.

Just to make you weep, I carry a loaded .357 (hollow points) in my vehicle’s glove compartment and keep a loaded Beretta .40 (also hollow points) in my bedside table. Last time I went to get the vehicle washed I casually removed the .357 from the glove compartment and the attendant remarked on how nice a gun it was. A couple years ago a Knoxville cop stopped me for speeding, I told him I was carrying the loaded weapon in the vehicle, we had a brief, pleasant conversation about how he also packed, and he reduced the charge so it wouldn’t impact my insurance. This year I went to a meeting where we had a Civil War commemoration and I went as an irregular Confederate officer with a genuine, fully functional and shootable replica Remington 1858 New Army Model .44 revolver as part of my costume. Just try any that in NJ.

This is interesting from the Daily Mail:

Jamie Friedland’s uncle Mark Schare disputed reports from police indicating there was a struggle, saying his nephew-in-law would have tried to avoid a confrontation at all costs.

‘I know him and he wouldn’t resist,’ Mark Schare told Mail Online. ‘It’s not his nature. I know he wouldn’t put up a fight.’

However reports emerging from local police are that Friedland did apparently struggle with his attackers shortly before his death, reports The Star-Ledger.

How would they know if he struggled or not and what’s the big deal at this point in the investigation???????????????

My guess is that the police are trying to shift some of the blame onto the victim for resisting — for being a hero and protecting his wife.

Afterall he was supposed to follow police guidelines in instances like this and give them whatever they wanted. If only he had done that, according to the police, he would still be alive.

This police portrayal will also allow the killers to get off with a lesser charge.

“Just try any that in NJ.”

If I tried that here these feral ba$tards that killed this innocent man would get less jail time than me. The only reason I’m still here is that I’m too ill to leave.

She may be minus her husband now, but she has the satisfaction of knowing that she lives in a holier-than-thou strict gun-control state.

ST - Spoken like a true "holier-than-thou" New Yorker. People who think and talk like you are one of the reasons I left NY a dozen years ago.

Mod - More than an hour ago I hit the "Report Abuse" button and asked, "Denigrating the wife of the murder victim....is this the kind of post we want on FR?"
Since the #2 post remains, it must be so....and that is sad.

JR - I do not wish to be associated with any group that thinks this kind of discourse is acceptable. Please remove my account immediately.

PS...Good luck with your WV donations during the next FReep-a-thon.

“What will stop it?”

Packing heat.

Not any time soon. NJ's gun control laws date back an awful long time. They were passed in the 1960s after the Watts riots but before the MLK riots. Since it passed its laws, homicides in the state have been in slow and steady decline, just like everywhere else.

There is not a lot of ethnic diversity between towns and neighborhoods in the state, which probably contributes to the political liberalism. Other than in the larger cities like Newark, Camden and Trenton, the state is reasonably safe.

Might have been over the top, I agree. I was angry. Shouldn't have hit "Post."

I knew the IDs right after it happened by looking at the text of the alert from Broadcastify Scanner Radio on my phone.

"2 black males" (quote) suspects on the Morris County dispatch That's available to all who get those alerts, presumably available to the public, including media outlets.

We need to hold the media accountable, with the criminals. Maybe there's a connection? hm

By the way, we have open carry where I live. I’ve seen people do it.

Also there’s a gun club right near my house. I hear shooting there almost every day (although since the snow hit I don’t hear it as often).

Maybe that’s true in NJ as well, so I shouldn’t have said what I did.

THEY WERE BLACK.
THEY WERE BLACK.
THEY WERE BLACK.
THEY WERE BLACK.
THEY WERE BLACK.

The FIENDS who killed this WHITE man were BLACK.

There is NO WAY these BLACK thugs would have targeted a BLACK couple. Go ahead and delude yourself if you don’t believe that.

That race war started a long time ago. We just never noticed.

But I have a newsflash for the BLACKS who, emboldened by the great dividers obozo, holder, jackson, sharpton and their ilk, have ratcheted up the violence:

At between 12 to 15% of the population, you are hopelessly outnumbered. Shaking out the other “minorities” and the white guilt, PC pansies, you are STILL at a serious numerical disadvantage. WHEN — not if — the WHITE backlash cranks up, your stupidity is going to get lots of good folks of all hues, injured and killed and the reaction from OUR side could escalate to make the ethnic cleansing carried out in the former Yugoslavia (now Kosovo and Bosnia) look mild.

The other leftist policy that helped to kill him was no shall issue CCW and no effective SYG law. Together they assured those feral subhumans that they could do it with a good chance of getting away. Had those two laws been in effect, they might well have deterred the perps from even trying, or, alternatively, enabled the victim to defend himself and his wife.

I live in New York, I wish to hell I could do that. I think now just carrying a pea shooter get you 5 years mandatory. New York city is the absolute worst. I think it’s like everyday another gas station attendant, 24 hour convenience store clerk gets killed in a robbery and still they won’t let them practice their 2nd amendment right. OH! And if you think that’s bad, they won’t even let Aux. cops carry EVEN AFTER 2 were shot and killed like fish in a barrel a few years back.

Look at this if you want to get pissed off. The shooter literally chases the two COPS down the street who are helpless because this subhuman piece of pig vomit posing as our Mayor thinks it’s funny to disarm COPS.

Of all the parts of my post, the best is my friendly encounter with the traffic cop, which became friendly after I told him I was packing, what I was packing, and that it was loaded with hollow points. Try that in NYC. I know, I’m an evil sadist.
