Looking into this it sounds like she filed a false visa application for her domestic help and then paid her less than minimum wage. That is code for she probably put a proposed wage in the visa application and then brought her servant in to the country and stopped paying her.

She was picked up by a special State Department team that handles diplomats and then turned over to U,S. Marshals. No details on if that Marshals group is used to this type of prisoner.

If they aren't a special group then they should have insisted a State Dept. rep stay with her during her entire incarceration.

Still pretty odd. If this doesn't turn out to be something akin to slavery then this will do some serious diplomatic damage with the world's most populous democracy.
