Some areas just need nukein’
There is not a single political party in Pakistan or top leaders of any political party in Pakistan, past or present, who did not make some contribution of their own to the continuous rise of Islamism and Islamic fundamentalist radicalism in Pakistan, and now the country is reaping the results of what its whole political class has aided in producing.
A book I have recently completed reading -
Magnificent Illusions (Pakistan, the United States and an Epic History of Misunderstanding), by Hussain Haggani, published 2013 by Public Affairs, a member of the Perseus Books Group -
is the most honest reporting of Pakistan by a Pakistani that I have ever read.
The book illuminates how all Pakistan’s top leaders lied to the Americans they dealth with - about Pakistani intentions, and how most American leaders and many top American foreign policy officials have refused to see the lying for what it was and held, and kept to, their own misguided views of Pakistan, events there and how to shape America’s relations with Pakistan.
His book is a harsh indictment of Pakistan’s leaders, all of them, and an equally harsh indictment of ignorance and stupidity of American leaders, all of them, when it comes to understanding Pakistan.
