Came to their senses
I hear ya, but give this a little time to play out. The did cave, but I’m sure they heard more than social media griping before reversing themselves...they also heard the sound of fewer coins hitting the slot. When people in business “make mistakes” that hurt the bottom line, we may not see visible changes, but quietly behind the corporate walls at Cracka Barrel and at A&E, more than a few career paths are going to change as a result of this, and not for the better.
Then, in the long run, maybe some learning will have taken place, about whose opinions are really worth listening to, and “caving” to.
I dunno. Something doesn’t smell right. What about the Duck Commander merchandise? Their stance yesterday was they’re going to continue to sell Duck Dynasty stuff, just not anything with Phil Robertson’s likeness on it. While this statement suggests a new attitude, a no-Phil policy could still be in effect.
I’m reserving opinion until I read something from someone who’s been in the store and has seen the specific items they pulled yesterday.
I have only been in one Cracker Barrel in my life. I live in California so have never seen one here.
I was in northwest Arkansas visiting family so we took a drive to Joplin Mo for breakfast at Cracker Barrel. I quit smoking a year ago but was smoking then so we checked in and I told cousin.....going outside to smoke. I was standing on the front porch about 5 ft away from the door when an older couple all decked out for church, since it was Sunday, walked up to me and the lady says all peeved off........what? Is there nowhere left to sit in the smoking section? I said......I didnt know they had a smoking section. I’m from California so have smoked outside for 20 yrs. she gave me a big
Hurump, an it figures, a snarky look and walked off. I laughed so hard. I had no idea that there are places that still let you smoke inside but apparently in Missouri you can. Lol
weird how this family endorsed a republican in their area and speak out more but now they are being reigned in, mmmmmmmmmm
I tried to send an email too, but they were having trouble getting it........ Now I know why.
YES....www.duckcommander.com is where A&E gets NO money....
Perfectly reasonable and accomodative. Corporations are controversy-averse. They moved to avoid controversy, then reversed course when a greater one arose.
I get all my Gaither CDs at Walmart - am going to see them in concert here in Mobile in Feb.....can’t wait! (And now I can go back to eating breakfast at CB!)
Don’t buy Duck Dynasty, that’s A & E’s brand. If you want to help Phil, buy Duck Commander.
my thoughts too, If it is true that Duck Dynasty products go to A&E and CB is putting them on their shelves only helps A&E.
It’s Duck commander products which are for the family and I have not seen any comments from CB saying they will put Phil back yet so they will not see this family until they make a clear comment on this .
Despite my general feelings about this ticky-tacky restaurant chain with it's faux "down-home" phoney-baloney prohibition-Era Farmer's Almanac's shtick, I might pop in there from to time on a long road trip in the Deep South when the only other off-the-interstate alternatives is Shoney's, Denny's and Waffle House (is there any place at all in the Deep South where you can get a beer and a shot with your steak?) but no more.
No more Cracker Barrel for me. Not after this stupid attempt to placate the Brokeback Mountain crowd by pulling Duck Dynasty merchandise. Not that I'm a huge fan of Duck Dynasty. Not that I don't think Duck Dynasty is out-done only by maybe Hee-Haw and Beverly Hillbillies in their condescending portrayal of Southern folk as backwards but lovable rubes.
Hmmmm....in other words:
There is nothing in our core beliefs that caused us to stand up for ol’ Phil. We were intimidated by the very loud homosexual gestapo, and their accomplices in the media. We didn’t stop to think that it was wrong to throw the Robertson family under the bus - and that we should stand for what is right, no matter what the cost.
However, now that we have experienced the fallout, it woke us up. Seeing as the bottom line is our first concern, we will now “stand” with Phil Robertson and his family, and hope upon hope that you return to our restaurants.
They read the Tweets and were stunned by the number of people showing up, asking if they were supporting the fascists at GLAAD or Duck Dynasty and, when the managers said they had pulled the Duck Dynasty items from their stores, those potential customers said they were leaving and left.
Ha....everyone take a Duck Call with them....blow it at any dim - lib you come across......better yet, waiting for Onward Christian Soldiers and Have a Happy Christmas to Duck Call accompaniment.....
In other news Hitler finds out about the US new secret weapon that strikes fear into Nazi soldiers......(sounds of a Duck Call)
OK thanks , then I will return the Duck Dynasty products and look fro the Duck commander products now.
For CB to put out this wishy washy want it both ways comments is not good enough, either they say they will put Phil back on their stores and sell Duck commander or they will never get any of this family money again
Unapologetic, unambiguous, and appropriate.. It was a bonehead move, and the typical knee jerk reaction in the face of pressure from the left, because it has always worked in the past, except it isn’t the past..
They’re concept is Family Dining, and they should have assessed their own marketing strategy, and predetermined that their customer base is the very folks that made the Duck Dynasty programing successful, and is the very market that they had so far succeeded in attracting..
The recent blowback, and utter failure of the condemnation of Chick-Fil-A, under the idenical scenario, should have set the alarms off, but didn’t, and now they will face the consequences..
This may not have the catastrophic outcome that they would have surely experienced had they not so quickly reversed their mistake, but the jury is still out..
This does however, set the record for the future, for everyone on the Homosexual bandwagon, that they had better read the tea leaves of the TEA PARTY, before venturing out on this limb again..

No, I won’t “give it time”. They caved and did it loud and clear which was telling their long time customers who have supported them for years to F off. I don’t play well with cowards and I sure as hell don’t support them with my hard earned money.
