Good for him...I have always remembered Robert Lecke’s book “Helmet for My Pillow” where he described his introduction to profanity in the USMC...
It was an eloquent description of profanity!
I use profanity on occasion, but as I have grown older, have tried to wean myself off of it. I don’t sprinkle it in conversation as I used to, particularly as a sailor, but still find myself using it when I smash my finger with a hammer or foul something up.
There was once a time when smashing my finger with a hammer could uncork a blue streak of vituperation, now, I issue an single syllable exclamation.
Gotta keep trying.
I don’t always succeed, but I am trying.
Sometimes 'profanity' just slips out..................
Me too... I know it is offensive to most FReepers and I care about FReepers more than any other group that I am associated with. I have improved but I have a long way to go. I grew up around real men... raised to be one... and the work was tough and when needed... the language was curt and to the point.
Happy New Year!
