I had a disagreement in college with my psychology professor. He said pedophilia was an irresistible sexual urge, while I said that there were many pedophiles who only looked but because pedophilia was considered such a vile perversion that the only ones who sought psychiatric treatment were those who had been caught abusing children. Thus psych doctors believed that it was irresistible because they never saw the ones who had successfully resisted their urges and I believed that blame could be assigned to those who yielded to their urges.
Fortunately, my grade wasn't affected by my talking back on this issue.
