I hope this keeps him in the closet. Closeted gays produced some wonderful contributions to our culture. Channeling their energies into the arts instead of anonymous sex in seedy bathrooms was a good thing as far as I’m concerned.

Assuming he wasn't the one saying it, can I say that it is sad if your own family decides to call you names. I doubt it was because of some obscure article in GQ.

My guess is it was because of GLADD working overtime to highly publicize the biblical admonition against sin, and A&I attacking people for their religious beliefs. This may have made some religious people a little less tolerant of gay members of the community than they usually are.

I live in NE Louisiana. Granted this isn’t the easiest place in the US to be openly gay, but I know several people who are gay and they aren’t living in fear because whether they like it or not, they know this is the Bible Belt and people are not going to accept the gay lifestyle being shoved in their faces, so they don’t act like they are in San Francisco.

The guy didn’t have to move across the bridge to “progressive” West Monroe because there are 2 gay bars in Monroe, too. That is the main reason I think this is fabricated crap.
