I think we have an issue with the writer not being familiar with Air Force units. There is mention here of a Bill Overstreet flying a P-51 with the 357th Fighter Group.

Uh the 357th would have been a US ARMY Air Force unit. (todays zoomies hate to be reminded of that historical fact)
