I wish science could get a better spokesman than an Al Gore standard bearer though.
The problem is that “science” can’t time travel.
You can experiment in the here and now,
and only conjecture about the past.
Unfortunately this debate will be used by both sides to denigrate the views they disagree with for years to come. All people of Faith will have the weak scientific arguments of this creation museum guy thrown in their face, and those who believe that evolution is part of God’s Creation will have Bill Nye’s stumbles endlessly dragged out. I can’t think of two worse guys to have a debate like this. They are leaving out the views of the huge segment of us who hold a deep Faith in God while accepting that the Universe is billions of years old.
Your comments are fair, but I think the mistake is to think this is a debate about science.
These endless debates are silly. Unless the one you are debating believes that the Bible is God’s Word, there is no basis for a Christian to debate anything. And nobody believes in God unless the Holy Spirit has changed his heart. Faith is not based on “facts” or theories. Faith is a gift from God, and God commands us to share the truth about Christ. Period. God’s Word is effective, and to keep badgering people with evidence-based arguments about this or that is futile. If someone believes the world is millions of years old, no amount of argument will change that person’s mind. Ditto for those who believe in an 8 day creation. These camps are starting from a different base so these arguments are a waste of time.
