This is one of those stories that is useless to respond to if one is a woman.
But you have to admit it’s fun to tweak guys from time ti time.
Until quite recently in history few women got a chance to compete fully in society. OTOH, that competition for this entire period was rough enough that women of the time (and today, for that matter, if faced with the choice) were happy to be sheltered from.
In the final scene of Taming of the Shrew Kate describes how women are sheltered by men from the harshness of the world. This is used by feminists of today as an example of "false conciousness."
The problem with this is that at the time it was also largely TRUE.

Why are our bodies soft and weak and smooth, Unapt to toil and trouble in the world, But that our soft conditions and our hearts Should well agree with our external parts?
The world has changed, and this, in advanced societies, is no longer really true. Women are able to compete on the level with men, and in some ways have significant advantages.
But their ability to do so is largely the consequence of advanced technology, which was almost, though not entirely, created by male efforts.
