Part of the answer is to drop silly, obviously untrue concepts like “extremist Islam” (which this author uses). We must admit that Islam is Islam. George Bush set us back at least 25 years in facing up to the issue with his “religion of peace” BS.
Islam simply is not a religion of peace. It is a totalitarian political system that uses religion as a beard, and it is completely incompatible with Western ideas of individual liberty.
Only when we admit what we are truly up against can we begin to have a rational conversation about what we do next.
The pinnacle of muslim “civilization” is barbarism and the few places where civilization actually exist in the mideast are little more than a facade to attract western dollars.
For a miniscule fraction of the cost in blood and money we could actually protect our own country and let the middle eastern strongmen have their little kingdoms of sand.
There is moderate Islam. But it is basically apostate Islam if you read the book. Moderate Islam is practiced in some Asian countries such as Indonesia, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Brunei. The U.A.E. and Bahrain also practice reasonably tolerant versions. As did Lebanon before their civil war and Jordan before the native Hashemite population was overwhelmed by Palestinians.
