Gov. Chris Christie’s load of bull: Fired aide Bridget Kelly merely a patsy

Gov. Chris Christie’s load of bull: Fired aide Bridget Kelly merely a patsy in attempt to shelter Port Authority cronies, himself

What did the governor know about the George Washington Bridge lane closures, and when did he know it? Ex-Port Authority executive David Wildstein pleaded the Fifth Wednesday, so we wait until an independent investigation can reveal the whole story.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s one-hour-and-forty-seven-minute self-serving, self-pitying display of contrition on Thursday was a climactic act in a brazen cover-up that threatens to further unravel his political career.

Ever so thoroughly the governor scoured the thesaurus for words of apology, regret and painless self-flagellation while nervily playing the victim and mercilessly destroying the aide who played only a supporting role for the George Washington Bridge political revenge plot. Christie needed blood to express his outrage to the public, so he drew it from deputy chief of staff Bridget Kelly for the sin, the governor said, of lying to him. Perhaps, Kelly did lie, although it seems incredible that anyone would flat-out attempt to deceive an intense, emergency inquiry.

Regardless, Christie made roadkill of Kelly and his former campaign manager while wholly exempting the close pals who were central to the lane-closure conspiracy that caused four days of gridlock and dangerously slowed emergency response in Fort Lee. Pathetic.

The governor gave three truly guilty parties, David Wildstein, Bill Baroni and David Samson, passes. Each is a Christie lieutenant who held a high position at the authority. While their exact roles are still hidden — and Christie saw no reason to inquire about them — each either engineered, concealed or did nothing about the interstate transportation outrage.

Sounds like a description of the NJ voters who voted for Christie.

FU, DB.

I guess you would have voted for Barbara Buono, Jon Corzine's corrupt financial "genius" and tax expanding expert.

I would NEVER vote for Christie for President, but in a state as blue as NJ you take what you can get. He's prolife and he doesn't raise taxes. That differentiated him enough from the other 95% of NJ politicians.

Here’s the thing - everything that people are pointing out about Christie applies 100 fold to Obama. Everything! And yet his royal Blackness is never expected to take any responsibility for anything that happens. I call him that because, make no mistake, there is no other reason that he gets away with it. Bill Clinton got a hummer in the oval office and then lied about it but there’s no way people would tolerate him doing the crap Obama gets away with. To criticize Obama is a career-ender and literally heresy if you are anywhere left of conservative.

That's the point that so frustrating, especially to see conservatives piling on.

None of us on this site wanted to see Christie as president. That's done now. He's a big dead fish on the national stage. Whether he knew what these dickheads were up to or not, it's over. Good.

But the hypocritical leftists are nowhere near happy. They are going to try to milk this for all its worth. They don't distinguish between conservatives and GOPe or RINOs or all this infighting. Those conservatives piling on Christie now are adding fuel to the fire that is going to be used by the leftists to clobber all Republicans, conservative or not, in the coming elections.

The Democrats are traditionally the party of big government jerkwads screwing the little people - the commuters, the people going to work every day, the taxpayers. But they are going to use this incident to turn the tables, as they always do, with the help of the leftwing media, like the NY Daily News. For those outside of the NYC area, you need to understand that this paper tries to out-left the NY Times and out-dumb MSNBC. It really is a paper that trumpets the far left message to the stupidest people out there. And people around here are eager to cheer them on.

If information comes out that Christie knew about this, I'd support not only removal but prosecution. But for now, I'm taking him at his word.

The move for conservatives at this point is to use this incident to highlight the media disparity in coverage of scandals. One conservative website pointed out that in the first 24 hours, this stupid bridge story received 17 times the national network news coverage that the IRS story has over the last six months! One story is about the federal government politicizing one of the most powerful arms of government and using it as a weapon to advance their party, while the other story is about closing two lanes on a bridge at rush hour.

I don't expect the liberal media to maintain any perspective, but it would be nice if the people on this website would.

The big Smoking Gun for me is that the traffic was snarled for FOUR days. Christie MUST have been aware of the problems from Day One yet it continue for FOUR days yet he did nothing to rectify the situation.

Amen! Christie can say or do what he wants. He can fire his entire staff and hand out $100 bills to all Americans, no matter what he does or says come November 2016 if he is the GOP nominee this conservative will be voting third party. I will not hold my nose yet again for the trash that runs the Republican party and vote for yet another one of their liberal turds that they trot out every four years. Enough!

A liberal self destructing is a beautiful thing regardless of whether or not they have an (R) or (D) in front of their names.

Lowering OUR FLAG to half staff for a damn druggie was enough for me. Thats’s not what lowering the flag was meant to represent.

Of course Christie knew.

Well then, it would be impossible for him to hide that fact! Once the evidence is produced, he can be removed from office pretty quick.

I don’t trust him either...even less now. Plus, if the media wanted him, you know there is a problem. Im relieved and glad he is off the ticket.

David resigned last month. He must have had this idea that he could skip out on taking responsibility. Politicians and appointees have become so incredibly corrupt. They are turning this country into a ghetto mindset
