The horse carriage ban is about real estate and political payback ... not about horse welfare.

On February 10th and 11th Clinton Park Stables is having an Open House. Tour the gorgeous stable ... meet the horses and see for yourselves how well loved and cared for they are. Bring your dog along for a ride in Central Park!

... not about horse welfare.

I think the loon Sheila Jackson Lee said that "welfare" is now "transitional living fund."

Jon Stewart smirks? How long has this been going on?

Say it ain’t so, Jon! Nobody likes anybody who smirks while making snarky remarks. At least make the “witty” ripostes with a straight face, like you really believed them.

Stewart should have some credibility on this subject being a horses ass and all.

I immediately posted that the value of the land where the stables were standing was behind all this banning of the carriages. With ANY Democrat-—follow the money.

The size of this land is about 1 1/2 acres. 64,000 sq ft.

What is the price per square foot for NYC development land these days??

Libs who consider themselves the apogee of cool hate it when cool people like popular actors disagree with their point of view.

BTW Stewart is a tool.

Bill de Blasio is a filthy, stinking horseophobe! Horses love New York City! It’s just about love! I’ve heard that foul word he uses. Behind closed doors, he calls them “Limp-Wristed Nags”. Bill the bigot! Bill the bigot! Bill the bigot!

I like Liam Neeson as an actor and I think he’s a stand up sort of guy with some common sense.

Liam Neeson had written in protest of earlier efforts to ban carriage horses in Central Park.

“As a horse lover and rider, I am deeply disturbed by the unnecessary and misguided political and extreme rhetoric against the horse-drawn carriage industry and feel obliged to counter this action.”

“The horse-drawn carriage business is an iconic part of this city, employing hundreds of dedicated, hard-working men and women, caring for well-bred, well-trained horses and attracting tourists to New York City for over 100 years.”

“As a proud New York resident, I have personally enjoyed the beauty of Central Park on a daily basis for many years, and these horses are an undeniable integral part of that experience. The notion that a well-nourished horse pulling a carriage through Central Park is considered cruelty may fit in with animal activists’ extremist view, but not with the rest of us. Surely we have a responsibility to protect commerce, especially one with such history, and one I truly feel helps define this city. May pragmatism prevail.”

Clinton Park is the largest of the four stables remaining on the west side of Manhattan.

I thing that it’s been pretty well confirmed on FR that:

The horse barns are valuable real estate and are going to be “re-purposed” likely to the benefit of some crony.

And

The electric buggies intended as replacements have similar connections for “trickle down” economics, LOL.

Yep. Follow the trail of the smell of money and cronyism and you’ll find a “rat” at the head.

I was thinking that Smiley WIlhelm was just another Crazed Green Fanatic and should have known better than to ignore the other evidence.

The guy who wants to build the electric buggies is none other than Steve Nislick ... the guy who founded NYCLASS ... the guy who wants to build on the stables’ properties ... the guy who spent $1.5 million to buy the election.

He plans on renting them to the current carriage drivers for $21,000 each, per year.

If a carriage driver wanted to drive automobiles, he/she’d drive a taxi. But they are horse people.
