This rifle system is real, it is now and it will be one of the most significant military advancements in history.

Go to the source, read it and view the pics. I'm stoked!

They just can’t simply call it a rifle, can they? They ave to mess it up with stupid government jargon.

Enfilade and defilade
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enfilade_and_defilade

Enfilade and defilade are concepts in military tactics used to describe a military formation’s exposure to enemy fire. A formation or position is “in enfilade” if weapons fire can be directed along its longest axis. A unit or position is “in defilade” if it uses natural or artificial obstacles to shield or conceal itself from enfilade.[1] The strategies invented by the English use the French enfiler (”to put on a string or sling”) and défiler (”to slip away or off”) which the English nobility used at that time.[2]

Enfilade fire, a gunfire directed against an enfiladed formation or position, is also commonly known as “flanking fire”.[1] Raking fire is the equivalent term in naval warfare. Strafing, firing on targets from a flying platform, is often done with enfilade fire.

Jihadists will tether women and children to them. They will have a direct line to the European press which will cry out about all the innocent women and children being killed.

'$11,900.00 each.'

Crazy. Only America would spend and waste that much money.

That is really cool. The rounds can be dialed in to explode at a range of the shooter’s choosing. No wonder the rounds are $45.00 each.

I'm stoked!

This is an anti-sniper weapon.

Expect to see every SWAT team equipped with them soon. Will you be so "stoked" then?

It would be nice to know the velocity 7800 feet seems optimistic unless the round has some decent velocity.

How accurate are they can they drop a round into a couple foot hole.

Other wise overhead cover defeats it.

All I see is a fancy grenade launcher. Is this thing a rifle as well, as with previous test versions of this concept?

Wiki says:
-
The XM25 Counter Defilade Target Engagement (CDTE) System,
also known as the Punisher and Individual Semiautomatic Air Burst System
is an air burst grenade launcher derived from the XM29 OICW.
It was fielded to soldiers serving in the War in Afghanistan
and was projected to enter full-rate procurement in 2013.
However, the Senate Armed Services Committee eliminated all funding
for the XM25 in its revision of the Pentagon’s budget in June 2013.

Every time I see a new advance weapon system I am the opposite of stoked. My fears of a government takeover lingers in the background (I just have an uneasy feeling and fear another power hungry monster like Obama) and taints the achievement. I imagine how powerful this weapon systems would be if used against it own populace.

But overall pretty cool weapon system and happy for our soldiers, except for the tone down bullets for stunning. We do after-all want to catch and release our enemies.

Lazar gives away position for drawing counter-fire from similar weapons, mortars, rockets, RPGs, Artty and air. Plus I’ll bet that at the very least the ChiComs already have all the blueprints, research data and prototypes.
