California Democrats Push 'Comprehensive' Background Checks for Ammo Purchases

Following the passage of a lead ammunition ban and a plethora of new gun control laws in 2013, California Democrats now say they will push for "comprehensive" background checks on all ammunition purchases in the state.

According to The Washington Post, CA State Senator Kevin de Leon (D) said, "Anyone can walk into any gun store, a bait and tackle store, and purchase all the ammunition they want to, no questions asked."

He said it ought not be so: "The ammunition is the fuel that feeds the violence. The gun itself, the hand gun or long gun or the high-powered weapon is the delivery device. The gas, the fuel, is the ammunition, and no one knows who buys it."

As Breitbart News reported on December 28, "comprehensive" background checks on gun purchases in CA ended private gun sales and led to a firearm registry in that state. Confiscation laws are also in place.

Exactly! You will see garage reloaders supplying the illegal gun owners and criminals. it will be as effective as the excessive cigarette taxes on the east coast, and by effective I mean driving even more illegal trade.

But why don't California Democrats first establish background checks for swimming pool and hot tub owners since such things are evidently more lethal to kids than guns are?

The CA lead ammo ban was just the first step in their goal to make ammo and guns illegal. They won’t stop as long as the idiots keep electing them.

I have a feeling the Colorado liberals are going to be taught a lesson in Nov, but it will take a lot more for CA voters to push back.

Come on, quite messing around, Democrats. It’s finally time to make it illegal to use a gun when committing a rape, robbery or murder. What are you waiting for? You have the votes to pass such a ground-breaking measure.

While they're at it they should enact “comprehensive” ID checks when registering to vote *and* at the polling place.

Racist. Why do you hate black people?

CA gun owners don’t have 2A rights. They have privileges doled out at the discretion of the ruling class. Every legislative session, there is new infrigements. In another few election cycles, the CA gun owners will be predomnantly disarmed.

I hear the word ‘common sense’, and I replace it mentally with the words ‘criminally insane and fascist as well’.

Sometimes “silly” is the only adjective one can think of. In this case, this is silly.

Have similar ID checks for Voting in elections.

And especially state legislative candidates.

Interesting isn’t it, when people call for voter ID
they are “suppressing civil rights” but when they
call for ammo ID it’s not “suppressing civil rights”.??

You’re not alone. The Left is inherently totalitarian.

Your key word is “illegal.” In a stroke of the pen they’ll turn honest citizens into criminals for exercising a Constitutional right. They’ve already done it to the First Amendment with Hate Speech laws.

“To All,
tell me sumthain’ I don’t know ,,,”

A well known University study proved that squirrels forced to smoke 20 joints a day tended to play with their nuts, rather that storing them.

Did ya know that?

Good point. Voting is every bit as important as gun ownership and done by the wrong person even more dangerous.

This should be point we should drive home. You wanna background check for firearms/related stuff, then we wanna background check all candidates for government positions and people who want to vote for the first time.

"......comprehensive background checks"?

Gosh, isn't that racist, sexist or something awful?

I mean when we conservatives demand similar checks for voting or federal jobs even Presidential candidates, aren't we called all manner of evil names?

And they fight “checks” on if a voter is legal or not or is required to prove that they can vote.
