“I wonder how much free oxygen is available in a cave..”
Depends on the cave. I’m not a cave diver because I want to die in bed, but I do know several. I doubt any cave divers would trust this thing. heck they take 3 of everything.

Cool. Sounds like there are still a few kinks to work out, though.

I wonder why they call it a "mask" when there's nothing covering the eyes?
And all of these years I have been place the dust mask over my mouth when using the table saw or dealing with drywall!

Presumably one would carry a tank of reserve air sufficient to safely research the surface. This would enable much longer dives with a smaller tank.

Correct. O2 becomes progressively more toxic the deeper you go.
Given that there is a “micro-compressor” drawing the gas through minute holes of the gill, I’d have to say that this is a glorified snorkel. Plus, relying on a battery? I don’t think so...

I’m Star Wars ignorant.
Pretty wild when you think about stuff like this. My mom said that space suits ended up very much like the ones in comic books when she was a kid.

“Secondly, an active diver requires about a quart of oxygen per minute”
Wouldn’t that be air per minute? Which would come from 10 gallons of water? Also, the water is in contact with the outside of the filter. Th outside is exposed to a lot of water, The pump only has to handle the quart of oxygen per minute.

It’d be nice to have a car if you crashed into a pond.
