Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I don’t think buying a cake from a private establishment is among the basic civil rights..
It would have made so much more sense for the gay couple to go to another bakery, but then they couldn’t push their agenda.
I read here recently we should turn the tables on the progressives. Go to their bakery and order a cake with a gun logo, tea party rules, etc. I loved that idea!
Aren’t the rights of the bakery owners being violated, freedom to practice their own religion??
At some point, somebody’s going to sue because he wanted a Pepsi, just one Pepsi, and she wouldn’t give it to him.
No one has a right to be served by others.
So, if the gay couple wanted a filmographer to do a porno video, that would be a violation if it was refused?
New math:
civil rights = birthday cake
“And isn’t slavery and involuntary servitude illegal, except for incarceration and the draft?”
It’s no coincidence that this precedent is being set. Before long doctors and other medical professionals will be compelled to accept unsustainably low fees from Medicaid and subsidized Obamacare patients based on the same legal reasoning.
They could come up with a queer cake for homosexual weddings. It could be fruit cake or something. These cakes are for birthdays. These cakes are for baby showers. We only have this cake for homosexual weddings.
Voluntary association is GONE in this country. The Constitution is dead.
The question on everyone’s mind (I think):
Did Sweet Cakes by Melissa have the same business ‘surge’ as Chick-fil-A?
The 2 cases are very different, imho, and I’m conflicted on this one, as I equate this case more with actors/performers making political stances than a CEO making a policy decision on company marriage retreats.
Standing your ground on principle is one thing, but making public comments/actions in the city in which you choose to do business that might alienate half your business is just plain stupid unless you’re prepared to move anyway and/or knew it would have a positive effect on the business.
I know Portland (unfortunately); the other part of this story REALLY IS how the business is faring...
Oregons Bureau of Labor and Industries violated a Citizen’s Constitutional Right.
Had Enough Yet ?............................
There was a shortage of fudge.
When are a Christian’s civil rights ever violated?
