[South Texas:]6 Investigates: New City Attorney's Remarks Questioned
KRIS ^ | Jan. 28, 2014

Posted on 01/29/2014 9:43:15 AM PST by SwinneySwitch

CORPUS CHRISTI - We continue our KRIS 6 News Investigation into the newly hired city attorney and an anonymous email claiming that she made inappropriate and intimidating remarks when she introduced herself to the city legal department.

The email was sent to every city council member, the mayor, and the city manager.

Tonight, we have details on exactly what the email says Roxann Cotroneo said to her staff.

And as we've reported, two sources inside city hall, who were there in that meeting, confirm that the email and the comments it lists are accurate.

In a speech to her staff, Cotroneo made comments that involve her race, sex life, medical history, and how she'll be conducting herself at work.

The email says Cotroneo said the following:

"I'm 100% Hispanic."

"I want you all to know, especially the men, but the women too, that I'm happily married and my husband is so HOT!"

"I can't have children, but my husband and I tried, and I mean we really tried hard, if you know what I mean!"

"You need to know that I cuss a lot and I'm going to be dropping some 'F-bombs' around here."

The email also says she talked about her recent masectomy, using hand motions to indicate that her breasts were still tender.

We took a look at the City's Human Resource Policy Manual. These comments and actions would definitely violate rules regarding unwelcome sexually explicit comments, actions, and innuendos.

Since Friday, we've tried to get City Manager Ron Olson to comment on the situation, and we tried again today.

He declined once again, saying he won't comment until his investigation is complete.

City council member Chad Magill says he's eagerly awaiting the results of that investigation and a report.

"I leave it in the hands of the city manager to address, and I trust that he holds his staff accountable as we do him," Magill says.

Cotroneo starts work next week.

We finally tracked down a phone number for her last night. We talked to her on the phone and she said she'd call us back.

We have not heard back yet.

It could be that this is her normal or typical mode of operation up until now and so she just carried on as usual. She’s probably surprised at what all the nub bub is all about. Being a Mexican progressive liberal woman she probably thinks we’re all probably delusional for getting our collective panties all twisted in a bunch over ‘candid’ remarks. Next we’ll probably learn she was a leader in the local Atzlan or LaRaza (feminist) movement in Corpus.

City Council Unanimously Approves First Female City Attorney

Posted: Jan 14, 2014 6:08 PM CST Updated: Jan 23, 2014 7:01 PM CST

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) - Another glass ceiling was shattered at City Hall Tuesday as City Council unanimously approved the city’s first ever female city attorney.

Roxanne Pais Cotroneo was selected by City Manager Ron Olson to replace Carlos Valdez, who resigned to run for a local judgeship. Over the last 25 years, Cotroneo has served as an assistant city attorney in Dallas, a special U.S. attorney and the city attorney in Harlingen.

“I have an understanding of the community’s perspective because I have been born and raised and visited the area ever since I was born and raised here, and I understand that the community’s voice is most important,” Cotroneo said.

It was just announced on TV at noon here in CC that she has ‘withdrawn’ her application upon completion of the investigation. :)

A proponent of the “social justice” legal theory, no doubt.

You’re welcome.

Yes. We don’t need any more of her kind around here.

It also came out during the investigation that she had been in trouble in her last job in another city, and had been asked or been forced to resign.

Whoever wrote that anonymous email did us all a big favor.

Have a great day!

Cotroneo withdraws acceptance of Corpus Christi city attorney job (Update)

Roxann Pais Cotroneo, who was recently hired as Corpus Christi’s city attorney, has withdrawn her acceptance of employment offer in the aftermath of an investigation into anonymous allegations made against her.

(Also, ... unrelated findings in an internal affairs report led city officials to fire one of the legal department’s ranking attorneys, according to documents released Monday.)

Muck racking at it’s best! Thank you, Anonymous.

Here’s one for you:

http://www.kristv.com/videos/6-investigates-special-report-part-2/

http://www.kristv.com/videos/6-investigates-special-report-part-2/

One of the ‘protected class’ was arrested for exposing himself as a teenager, stalking and sexual harassment of a girl in college in Austin, attempted kidnapping of a girl in CC, and was STILL hired by the Corpus Christi school district as a teacher, (they knew his record), hired by Port Aransas school district and fired from there by sexual harassing a young girl.
If this man had been white, he NEVER would have been hired with his record in the first place.

Post this one if you want to. It would interest a lot of FReepers, I’m sure. I’m too busy to do it or I would.

Thanks

The thing that piqued my interest in this story was her statement that she and her husband worked really hard at having a baby.

Did that work involve her pointing a pistol at her husband’s temple?
