I heard they got an inch of ice. I don’t care how you drive or if you have 4WD you can’t drive on it.
Hour number two coming up.
Nebraska?
4WD NEVER works on ice....even dim bulbs in my area can’t seem to remember that basic rule of physics. I did not know if it was ice or snow.l..but yeah...if that is ice...best to just STOP and pray for salt!
Among the reason/excuses/explanations are...
-It happened very quickly
-It happened in the middle of the day
-It was worse than what the national weather service said it was going to be
-The 1 million people who work downtown were all told to go home at the same time
-The traffic hit the highways before the very limited amount of salt/sand/gravel trucks could be deployed
-No one in Atlanta knows how to drive in snow/ice
-
The big issue here locally are with counties that rolled the dice and did not cancel school.
There were THOUSANDS of school kids who were either stranded on school buses on the side of the road
or spent the night at their schools.
Parents are hopping mad at county school superintendents.
Yup, that’s right. The Platte River valley.
MountainDad is from up that way.
vacuumbob told me lat last night that Mrs vacuumbob arrived home safely.
Before those parents kick the crap out of the school administrators, I hope they take time to thank the bus drivers for keeping their kids safe!
Yeah, the salt trucks couldn’t get through because all the abandoned cars!
They need chains. They are so screwed.
Thanks for sayin’.
Michael Medved stated last week that he thought that 3 SOTU responses was too many. Today he didnt seem to care much for Rand Paul’s speech. I really don’t have an opinion myself. I have just come to have very low expectations for all if it. One of his guests said he didn’t think there should be any Republican response. There is no Medved thread on FR.
Ha, Levin just said Cathy McMorris Rogers was “awful”. I don’t remember her speech except something about picking apples in Kettle Falls. There’s nothing wrong with that.
Vehicles trying to leave the city at start of storm...
The national guard got called out and were rescuing kids from school buses all night long.
I don’t think anyone blames the bus drivers.
They are not the ones who made the decision and gambled with the safety of the school kids.
County school superintendents are an elected position here.
Nothing worse for a local politician than angry parents.
WOnder how many of those school officials are liberal idiots that believe that global warming horsecrap (rhetorical)
Damn glad I was working from home yesterday.
Good evening!
Don’t know if you’ve looked, but we’re (in Montana) currently getting the northern end of a storm that covers everything from Central Colorado to Alberta. (That’s on infrared weathersat you can check using www.wrh.noaa.gov/satellite/?wfo=byz.)
Don’t know if this thing’s going to take a turn South and run around your area, Clint, or if it’s just going to run down I-90 and come see Mag, but consider this my little bit of jumpin’ up and down and hollerin’....
INCOMING!!!!!!!!
Here at Myrtle Beach all the schools where closed the day before the Ice came.
No worries....I hasve a shovel, and I know how to use it ;-)
