The founders never envisioned a career being made over representation in DC. With rare exceptions, those who venture there eventually get polluted and forget the states/people they represent and just represent their own interests.
So yes, it is too bad we have to do this but yes, the founders’ wisdom is that an election is how to eradicate the entrenchment.
I fervently wish those who wind up replacing these vow to never pass a law that exempts those passing it. They do that to often.
