you are making a huge mistake here….Rove is a big time elitist. Elitism is not a matter of wealth only or wealth necessarily.

I’m not sure at all where you think you are headed with this.

Years ago, when this whole "elite" thing started, there were rich liberal Republicans with names like Rockefeller, Scranton, Lodge, Chaffee, Percy, Romney. Those who aren't dead now usually vote Democrat (okay, with the possible exception of Romney).

Nowadays, the people who get called "elite" aren't all that rich (in comparison to other people in politics or showbiz) or all that liberal. Maybe Rove is pompous or condescending or smug, I don't know. But if Karl Rove is an elitist, it must not be much of an elite. Ditto for Boehner. Whatever's wrong with him he's no Rockefeller.

I guess the idea is that there is some great conservative populist wave that will sweep out incumbents and replace them with more conservative challengers. As recent races in Indiana, Missouri, and Delaware showed, that doesn't always happen. And challengers who do win are only a few years away from disappointing you just as the old incumbents did.
