I don’t think the NAU idea is as popular among elites now as then. However, the same old coalition of deep pocketed elite republicans teamed up with elite democrats remains. the former wants cheap labor. the latter wants cheap votes. And screw the country.

that amnesty thingy that the republican leadership put out looks like a reflection of the terrible tension the republican leadership feels between those who pay the bills and those who render the vote. It looks like their thinking is that if they do nothing they alienate their bankers. If they do something they alienate their voters. So they chose to do a will of the wisp. A {} that is neither something or nothing. A would’ve could’ve should’ve.

The typical strategy is to wait till after primaries and then pull a fast one. But the base is on to the leadership this time. I don’t think that will work. And the leadership already knows it.

Soon enough the dems will figure it out. But they won’t do anything until after the election. The most dangerous time will come between what looks to be a blow out election and January when the new congressional class comes in. After January the pubbies will have a fairly united front on capital hill. And if things keep going the way they are with mcconnel—that mild mannered man will not get to be the next majority leader.

Now the fight for at least the next year and maybe the next three years —will be over constraining the presidents abuse of executive privilege.

Because he will certainly try to just f-ck you illegal aliens are citizens. And democrats to boot.

This will be a tougher more ambiguous fight. But every man will have to be on the ramparts.
