Wrote to our Congressman last week (email) and told him in no uncertain terms that we expect illegals to be deported, and the border to be sealed as the ONLY two actions we want to see, taken on “immigration reform”. So maybe it helped. Maybe enough people contacted their representatives. ? Hope so.
It can be argued that there were multiple goals but the main one was to blame Obama for the lack of passage and secondly was to righteously accuse him of not enforcing the law.
I like the way the burden has been put on Obama to prove he and his administration are trustworthy.
There is no way Obama can now muster any argument that he is trustworthy:
“If you like your healthplan, you can keep it”.
But still, Boehner has to go and his primary opponent Gurr looks great.

It’s not “this administration” that is the problem. No administration since the Reagan amnesty has had the least interest in enforcing immigration law.

And don't buy the line that the push for immigration reform is over this year. It is not. Zuckerberg continues to spend millions on his media blitz. The Chamber of Commerce is placing pressure on the Reps to come through for them linking it to donations.
The Senate bill is another disaster for the Reps, including the 14 Reps who supported it. Rubio is about finished as a Presidential candidate and guys like Alexander, Corker, Ayotte, Graham, et. al. have pissed off many of their constituents. The Gang of 8 bill should have been killed using the cloture rules.

Ryan said on the Sunday news shows that there was not the support among the congressional members to pass any immigration reform because no one trusts Obama or Reid.
It took the media so long to report this that I am beginning to wonder if the proposal was ever serious or whether it was designed to allow Republicans to have it both ways. “Gee, we support immigration reform, but we cannot trust Obama.”
It became a big issue for House members when Reid got the Rubio amnesty bill passed. That is when they got the attention on that.

BS. It is a power trip for Boehner. 2nd in line for the Presidency. He gets to decide on who chairs the various committees and what comes to the floor. It is one of the most powerful positions in government. Lots of perks. Do you really think no other Rep wants that job? Nonsense.
On the Leno show, Boehner blamed the rank and file Reps for shutting the government down. He said he told them it was a bad idea. Fact: The Dems shut the government down and the "shutdown" only affected about 15% of the government.
Nancy Pelosi wants the job back. I guess she isn't concerned about being the goat.
If that was the plan, then the GOP is even stupider than I thought. The proposal is going to be used against Rep candidates in the midterms requiring them to address point by point where they agree or disagree. Immigration reform has now become a big issue in the midterms and a distraction for the Reps who want to focus on Obamacare. The proposal has caused a major rift within the GOP. For example, many of us in the base will force candidates to take a stand on the proposal both in the primaries and in the general.
The GOP will have turned an issue that only 3% of the public deemed important into a litmus test. Personally, I will not support any Rep that supports this proposal. I will stay home or enter a write in vote.

Cantor and Boehner and Ryan and McCarthy are all cut from the same cloth—equally bad.
